border crossing

Featured Replies

Hi im not sure where to post this so I apologise if it goes in wrong section.

I came here on a single entry tourist visa which I have extended for 30 days at jomtien. I want to stay longer so am I correct in saying that I can now go on a border crossing and then re enter same day and get 30 days? Also my passport has less then 6 minths left but as im not getting another " visa " just a visa on arrival will I be ok ? Also which is nearest and cheapest way lol

I am not sure whrre you can go get a new entry all neighboring counries require 6 months passport validity. Perhaps by air a little further away. You can get info on passport requirements here. http://www.staralliance.com/en/services/visa-and-health/#

For Thailand it is not a problem because a passport valid for length of stay is all that is required.

Edit: Hong Kong appears to be nearest place you can go. They only require 1 month.

I checked all the ASEAN countries and they are all 6 months.

So I cant cross into cambodia or laos for the day and then come back in?

No

At one time Cambodia was 4 months but they changed it to 6 months not long ago.

Check the edit I just did to my post.

Just a side note if I send off for a new passport and then go for a tourist visa in laos.. how long does it normally take for the passport to come back?
