Turkleton
hi, I am planning to install a GMM-Z HD system (dish/receivers) I read a few threads here on TV and it seems, that the HD channels are also available on the "C-band" I am mainly interested in Formula 1 and German Bundesliga. So what costs can I roughly expect, for installing a "C-band" dish (1.5 m) with a twin, or even better quad LNB? Is there any "special" LNB required for HD? Anything else to consider? thanks in advance
SantiSuk
Not much point DIYing it. A local satellite shop should do it relatively inexpensively
Turkleton
well, after a little bit internet research (9sat.com/etc.) , I've got some basic price information regarding dish/LNB. Went to a small shop, who installed everything for 5200 Baht, which included the dish/twin LNB and a GMM-Z HD receiver with one year free "Gold package" and one month free "Platinum" Absolutely great picture quality, compared to my crappy cable-tv (Sophon Pattaya). I will buy one more HD receiver for the bedroom today.
astral
Note that c-band dishes are heavy and require a good solid concrete base.
Turkleton
^^ not really heavy. Yesterday, I had to remove the whole dish from the roof, to connect the cable for the second receiver. I would guess, not much more than ~8kg, if ever. All dishes in our village are "roof mounted", so I don't expect major problems.
lopburi3
Mesh C-Band dish in the normal 1.5 meter size required here is very light weight and attach by four bolt hold pipe fittings.
