I have been talking to a local doctor that had no clue about western skin and I have a mole which has become itchy and gives me pain . I have a lot of moles on my body and I need a qualified doctor to examine my skin .

I know I can go to Bangkok for this but I was hoping to find someone in Chonburi , and not a typical thai doctor , thanks .

Dr. Anna at BPH.

Thankyou , I also found in another thread that you recommend Dr. Parichart at St. Louis Hospital,, I might try Bangkok instead of Pattaya , it will probably be cheaper also than BPH ?

If anyone can tell me the costs of cancer screening at Dr. Anna BPH , including a small biopsy I would appreciate it .

I go to her 1-2 times a year for a check-up and normally a few "blasts" to freeze a bad spot or 2 ,

her English is great , the Hospital is fine and right off the BTS and the price is right ,

I am not sure if it was ever over 1500 baht and I think much less but I do not have the paperwork here ,

I decided to use Dr. Anna since she has a good reputation in Pattaya. Thanks.

So I went to see Dr Anna today and was happy about her, she really knew what she was talking about.

My infected mole was not a mole but a wart. I waa treated with liquid nitrogen.

She checked my other moles and one of them she asked me to monitor.

So the visit only took 10 minutes .

But the bill was not cheap. I had to pay more than 3000 baht !

When I checked the detailed report I find it strange that I was almost double charged for doctor fee.

Specialist visit dr anna 1000 baht

Procedure fee dr anna 1500 baht

plus the other fees total 3080 baht for a 10 minute visit.

Putting the cost into "real" terms means about $100 US or £60 !

I will give you a comparison with an Australian doctor.

I went to GP in Perth for suspicous mole. They took a biopsy.

Total cost 293 dollars of which I paid about 160 dollars and medicare 133. Took about 15 mins.

Doctors are damned expensive.

The biopsy may have taken 15 minutes, but that was in no way all that happened.

Slides had to be prepared, chemically treated and read by a separate specialist (pathologist) carefully under a microscope to determine if malignancy was present. You paid for not one but 2 specialists and for a lengthy examination of the tissue sample.

Sheryl, there was no need of a biopsy here or it would probably have cost me 7000 baht.

It was a wart and easily treated with liquid nitrogen . It was the double charge doctor fees that I don't understand.

One fee relates to the consultation and diagnosis the other relates to the cost of actually undertaking treatment!

I would say good value was given !

There was no double change that I can see - you paid 1k for visit with doctor (show and tell) and then paid her 1,500 baht for the removal operation. Normal billing. Then there are the admin/nursing/extras charges to make up the difference. At Vejthani Hospital I am normally changed 1,000 baht for pathologist report in addition to the normal doctor/procedure/admin costs (which are considerably lower but no access to liquid nitrogen so not sure what that would cost).

I was referring to the poster just prior who talked about the cost of a biopsy in Perth.
