NACC to conclude investigation on G-2-G rice deal with China soon

BANGKOK, 5 Dec 2013, (NNT) - The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) expects to wrap up its investigation into the Government to Government (G-2-G) rice deal with China, as it has already received ample information on the case.

The NACC earlier agreed to extend the period of its investigation on former Commerce Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom’s involvement in irregularities in the 2011/2012 season of rice pledging scheme, saying it had not yet received needed information from the Public Warehouse Organization (PWO).

It revealed further that, on the case of the G-2-G rice deal with China, the NACC found that the deal was done with 2 agencies appointed by the Chinese government, and the evidence received was not sufficient to prove whether the deal was a G-2-G contract. The NACC also found that several Thai officials and private individuals had been involved in the irregularities.

According to Secretary of the NACC, Witaya Akompitak, his agency has finally received the information required from the PWO, which comprises 34 documents used in transporting the pledged rice from 180 warehouses from all over the nation.

Mr. Witaya said the NACC would need approximate 1-2 weeks to go through all the documents, saying, however, it would quickly conclude the investigation as soon as it can.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commerce Minister Yanyong Puangrach said he would cooperate with the NACC, instructing the Department of Internal Trade, the Department of Foreign Trade, and the PWO to facilitate the NACC's probe, providing the agency with whatever information it needed.

Need anything else be said about this investigation...post-153453-13862132040511_thumb.jpg

Interesting, BKK Post reports that the ex Director of PWO has so far refused to hand over the necessary doco to aid the investigation. Yingluck as Chair of the National Rice Policy Commitee has yet to direct him to do so

They have had plenty of time to falsify the documents.

Interesting, BKK Post reports that the ex Director of PWO has so far refused to hand over the necessary doco to aid the investigation. Yingluck as Chair of the National Rice Policy Commitee has yet to direct him to do so

While Yingluck is titular Chair of the National Rice Policy Commitee, she claims that she has delegated that authority to some scapegoat, same as she does with every position when the smell of corruption is detected.

She seems to be selective in her duties, picking those she enjoys and ignoring the onerous, preferring to tour the world first class spreading bovine fertilizer and shopping rather than attending parliament.

"NACC to conclude investigation on G-2-G rice deal with China soon"

How they can say this, or is the headline misleading?

The NACC just got 34 documents / Pages? From the PWO.

They said they needed 1-2 weeks to read them.

How they can call in the headline then: conclude investigation soon

It sounds as if they do not expect to find something ?

I would have expected that the NACC starts to bring some light into the dark here.

would cooperate?

If The National Anti-Corruption Commission make an investigation you must cooperate!!!

Sounds as if the NACC would be a toothless tiger.

The NACC can not investigate this Departments without instruction from the Deputy?

Thie reported amount of paperwork submitted by PWO must be a printing mistake. 34 documents to cover rice shipments from 180 warehouses??? My experience has been that each incident requires reams of paperwork (documents) thus there should be 180 min.

Now why you would pull grain from 180 locations for a deal like this shuld raise a warning flag, especially the earlier announcement that rice was being sold ex warehouse. It will be interesting to see what the findings are, hopefully they will be made public or is that a part of 'national security' also?
