Changes to volunteer visas/work permits?

Recommended Posts

I saw an article in the Phuket News saying there are going to be changes to the non-immigrant visas that volunteers have if working for a foundation or charity. This would involve applying for an extension every 90 days (and paying the 1,900 Baht fee). Any truth in this? I haven't been able to find out anything else.

That is actually already the rule for some years now, nothing new.

People volunteering for a registered charity can get extensions of stay of 90 days at a time for 1,900 baht. Only if the application is supported by a high ranking government official is it possible to get an extension for 1 year.
