SageYoung Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I'm looking to sell some cold coins for Baht. Anyone have some recommends? Thanks
yorkie100 Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Where do these cold coins come from, Siberia? Hope you've got them in a fridge. Maybe Bar Ice in Chaweng will give you a good exchange rate.
wasas Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I had to google cold coins, to see what they were, when I realised, it must be a spelling mistake
SageYoung Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 Silly me. Gold coins... maples, eagles, krugerands.
PoorSucker Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Buying or selling? Try the big gold shop on the lake side road in Chaweng, after school of tourism coming from the ring road. 1
John 1 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Silly me. Gold coins... maples, eagles, krugerands. How much are you asking?
Jose Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 You'd have trouble selling gold coins even in Bangkok, as Thais are only familiar with jewelry gold (23 karat, approx 96%) - they'd probably need to destroy your coins to verify gold content. Depending on quantity, I would either try and find a private seller or take a trip to HK.
thrilled Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Go to Bangkok,Chinatown, yaraphat rd.I doubt you get as much anywhere else in Thailand.
Suradit69 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) The topic of gold coins in Thailand was addressed here: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/681318-krugerrands/?p=7039364&hl=%2Bkrugerrands Go to Bangkok,Chinatown, yaraphat rd.I doubt you get as much anywhere else in Thailand. Gold shops even in Bangkok won't be interested in foreign gold coins. There are coin shops on Charoen Krung Rd near the Post Office that might be interested, but I doubt it. Even at auction they do not sell unless there is some collector interest. There was an auction last week in Bangkok and some gold coins from China and Hong Kong got a bid, but from other countries, nada. Same three months ago. Krugerrands, Maple Leafs, etc largely went unsold. Edited December 6, 2013 by Suradit69

Try the big gold shop on the lake side road in Chaweng, after school of tourism coming from the ring road. is that the one oppsite the swimming pool shop. they also make styles for you there. u can watch them do it. If you have scrap jewlery u can ask them to turn it into somthing while you watch. they have allot of buddhas and gold and stuff. yes that would be the place to go. U should go with a Thai as if they do not do it they might be able to point you in the right direction
