Anyone know what this word could be? I'm watching a ghost programme on CTH and it keeps coming up. Might be someone's name but I don't think so.

If it is someone's name, it should spell as ปิติกานต์ (male's name) or ปิติกาญจน์ (female's name).

That's it! It was a ritual to contact a ghost. I should have picked up on it as I knew the word phithee but I've never heard it with gan on the end before. What difference does that make?

For that matter, what's the difference between พิธี, งานพิธี, พิธีการ, การพิธี, กรรมพิธี and พิธีกรรม?

I hear พิธีการ more often than I hear พิธี. I have always treated them as synonyms. I am sure there is some subtle usage difference. I may have heard งานพิธี but I am not sure, (an event involving a ceremony or ceremonies??). I am sure the last 3 exist or you would not have asked but I don't recall meeting them.
