BANGKOK, Dec 7 – Police said the charred body found in a bus at Ramkhamhaeng University on Tuesday belonged to a 19-year-old Bangkok resident, based on a DNA test and available evidence.

The man, identified as Suradet Khampaengjai, reportedly left his home in the Ekamai area of Bangkok on Monday night with a group of friends, all of whom boarded a bus heading for Ramkhamhaeng University.

A ring, keys, buckle and mobile phone found on the victim’s body were identified by his mother, who said Suradet left home at his friends’ persuasion.

The bus was torched in front of Ramkhamhaeng Unviersity and the flames spread rapidly, locking Suradet iinside.

Police said Suradet was neither a Red Shirt member nor a Ramkhamhaeng University student.

A senior police officer, Pol Gen Jaramporn Suramanee, ruled out rumours that people killed in the clash on Ramkhamhaeng Road early Tuesday morning were shot by snipers.

Police recovered 34 ammunition casings and 12 bullets, which were fired from seven models of firearms, none of which are commonly used by snipers, he said. (MCOT online news)

This is completely wrong. He left home on Sunday and drove on a motorcycle with his friend towards the stadium, according to his friend's first statement as reported in the BKK Post. His friend claims they were attacked by ping pong bombs and hid inside the bus. That seemed implausible when I first heard it, and it later emerged that he was part of the gang of youths who set this bus alight on Sunday afternoon. He'd gone into the bus - apparently - to slash the seats with a knife, but was trapped in there when the fire started as he found the door at the rear of the bus locked.

Even if he was up to no good - and it sounds like nothing too serious at his age - it's still an awful, tragic accident. RIP.

And if it was one of the many modified buses to take more passengers then the glass on the second floor was not the regular safety glass that can be broken easily but stronger glass to support the modifications. once again corruption rears its head. If the bus was checked for correct safety standards by the relevant department or the BIB then this may not have occurred. However, if you are going to get up to no good then repercussions may happen. No one deserves to die but karmas a bitch.

I read in the paper today that the victim was one of the people vandalizing the bus, one of the other vandals set a fire in the 1st floor of the bus while he was on the second level.

Is this the same bus where they couldn't determine if it was an animal or human skeleton: "It was not known if it was the skeleton of a human being or animal as the skeleton was just a back bone part but with no skull and arms." ?? "A ring, keys, buckle and mobile phone found on the victim’s body" - so if these items were on the body in the first place would there have been doubt as to whether it was an animal or human? Are animals using phones these days? Also, where did the skull and arms disappear to? I'm confusedunsure.png.pagespeed.ce.E7Vo3qsmeC.png

I just seen a today paper that a few teenagers left the bus in their back (in black smoke) with benzine tanks and a small TV from the bus.

The biggest problem this time a really bonus time for these idiot schoolboys who make steetfights almost every day.

I cant understand it neither I'm thinking for 1000 years.
