Visa Question

Featured Replies

I'm intending to travel to Thailand from the UK in early 2014 for a period of up to 3 months.

While I'm there I have been asked to provide articles and photographs for a magazine.

The magazine is both printed and on line.

I was hoping to go on a non immigrant visa, but does this activity constitute work, so is a different type of visa required?

Any advice welcome, thanks.

Yes, it is considered work and you would need a non-B visa plus a work permit for that in order to work legally. The work permit will be hard to get as you need to be employed by a Thai company.

Or you can try to go the media route, which is through the ministry of foreign affairs. See: http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/media-center/25543-Information-for-Foreign-Press.html

Thanks for that.

Is it the same if the activity is unpaid?

Yes

Any work whether being paid or not is considered working.
