Okay, I admit it.... I have a lead foot, and I drive way too fast, so I was not surprised when a state trooper pulled us over as I was driving through Georgia. Hoping to get off with a warning, I tried to appear shocked when the trooper walked up to the car.

"I have never been stopped like this before," I said to the officer.

"What do they usually do, ma'am," he asked, "shoot the tires out?"

A similar thing happened to me in the Uk. I have only been stopped twice in my 40 years of driving, The first time was at least twenty years ago and the police car came in front of me and the parcel shelf swiveled up and a it said 'Police - Stop'. So I did. ( He had spotted my missing tax disc which was laying on the dashboard not stuck in the windscreen. )

The next time, twenty years later the police car stays behind me with his lights on as I am doing one mile an hour below the limit, well you would wouldn't you. He stays there for a while then pulls along side me and waves me over. The officer gets out and asks why i didn't stop and I said you never asked me to. I told him about the last time, twenty odd years before, and he laughed and said they now get behind you instead. No problem, but how the hel_l was I to know?
