koeko
Hey, Where should I ask? Who should I call? What are the available ADSL plans? I would like to pay monthly, what documents do I need? And how much time will it take to be effective? Thanks!
ThaiBob
Not too difficult. First, go to your condo office tell them your wish. You will be charged a one time setup fee (5,000 or 1000 baht). Get a contact number for your condo office. Then go to a TOT office (Pattaya Klang/3rd Rd) and select your plan and get your modem/router (about 1000 baht). Before going, visit their website and select the speed and plan that meets your needs.
lemoncake
Sorry to go off topic, but i would strongly recommend you avoid ADSL aa its ancient and unreliable. If your condo runs Sophon Cable, go to Sophon Internet and get yourself a cable-faster, more stable and reliable. They could most likely run it from the Sophon cable (tv) so even cheaper installation
Spalpeen
TOT is unbelievably bad. They only have two internet repair technicians and one van to cover the whole of Pattaya/jomtien, and they have a backlog of hundreds of jobs. I know this because I spoke to the two guys myself. I can't recommend any other providers from personal experience but my wife is currently looking for an alternative provider for her business. I'm currently using a Truemove SIM card, but even that's not very consistent.
koeko
Thanks I'll ask the office tomorrow. @lemoncake the reason I want TOT is that they don't seem to censor some websites... while on the other side 3BB displays a warning with a picture of the King instead of showing the actual website I intended to visit. Can you confirm that "Sophon Cable" doesn't apply censorship? If yes then it could be an option!

Can't do the same using the 3BB from a hotel where it shows the "MICT" warning you're mentioning. This also goes for some Wikipedia pages and some YouTube videos. So TOT is my only option at the moment. Edited December 9, 2013 by koeko

pdwarf1
Hey Lemoncake, I have ADSL from 3BB and it works great. Been using them for more than 6 years now. Better than anything TOT has. As for Sophon, I have friends that say it is good. I run 2-3 computers from an ADSL wireless router that works very well. Myabe for you ADSL is old, but for me it wokrs better than anything I have used in this country.

My condo uses a router in front of the building and I stay on the back so my internet really sucks !! I think it is 3BB. Our cable is sophon however. I never visit porn sites, however I do care when some Wikipedia pages and some Youtube videos are being censored, and even if those pages aren't very interesting anyway I am still concerned about the ethical aspect of censoring, and it's a matter of principle to get the purest Internet access as possible, without any filtering/censoring going on. @lemoncake I'm not sure how it works, but if you want I can send you some links that works from a TOT connection and that don't from a 3BB connection. I have never ever seen the MICT warning from a TOT connection yet.
balo
Some gambling sites are also blocked by MICT . I can not access them from 3BB but TOT works on any website strangely enough, must be some high TOT officials that loves porn and gambling . .

Currently paying about 550 Baht plus tax for 10Mb down and 512 kb up. That's great! So how did you get this plan exactly? I had a look at the TOT website but couldn't find much content in English. I guess I'll have to call them? Also what where the installation fees? I've heard it's something like 4000 baht to open a line?

I went to their office on 3rd and Klang, signed up for a one year contract, there were no installation fees. However there was a long wait to get a phone line back then, luckily a friend of mine had an extra line that I could take over. TOT did the line installation for free to the junction box outside of my house, any additional cabling I had to do myself, or pay for. I've heard that you now can get a dedicated ADSL line without a phone number attached to it. At the time I signed up the download speeds were less and the price was higher, but that has gradually changed to the better.

Your condo does have an office right? or juristic person?, usually most of them do
