Does anyone know where to buy coconuts here in Chiang Mai? Preferably the brown 'hairy' type, not the young green sort.

I've never noticed them at the market but admittedly I haven't actually gone there with the intension of looking / buying them.

I was in Rimping earlier (river branch) but they only had the young coconuts.

I've got many of them, but live along the second ringroad.

The green kind which have the outer hairy husk taken off are great for drink the water and removing the meat. The young ones are on sale today at Makro a bag of 8 for 99 bht
