Accident Mae On

Featured Replies

Coming back to town around 4pm today just after the Mae On Cave entrance we were stopped by police and directed onto a mud road. There had been what sounded like, and looked like a major accident from what we could see in our rear view as we got back onto the road past the accident.

Continuing to town we saw a few ambulances, highway patrol and recovery vehicles heading in the opposite direction.

Was this a practice or real incident?

That section of road offers excellent opportunities for head on smashes. Straight, but undulating, can't see who's coming over the crest of the hill on the wrong side of the road....

It was horrific, and there are pictures of it on the web and it was also on the news, I am told.

Looks like a car overtaking a 10 wheeler dump truck had a head on collision.

Google translate shows a farang name, but the translation isn't clear .

Can anyone translate.

Looks horrific. Honda Freed front half (including cabin) totally destroyed sad.png

does anyone have any further information on the accident? this is really big news not only in Chiang Mai but on the national news as well. just looking at the photos makes us nervous to drive our car which is what is being said in the Thai media too.

3 dead, mother, father, and daughter.

"just looking at the photos makes us nervous to drive our car"

Serious question, did you have to see this accident to have some reservations about driving in this country?
