Sick leave

Featured Replies

Hi friends

I have n small business here in bangkok

I just employ n new staff he work for me for only less than a month and got sick and got a medical certificate for 25 days n may be more to come

Do I need to pay him his salary for this medical leave as he just only work for

Me for less than a month

Many thanks

if i where a thai worker and sick and working for a farang or even a thai companie and don´t get money for sick leave i would take a torch and some gasoline. thats is what i recommend my exploidet thai friends many times.. its really a shame not to pay the miserable 300 baht wage a day but spend more then 1000 baht only for some drinks daily as many farangs do. and i tell them too if the minimum salary goes up again about 30% and the companies put the prices up also 30%, torch and gasoline too.

Your a credit to your country cheesy.gif

Its only logical when you raise the wages that prices will rise anyone with half a brain (except the current government) could have seen that one coming.

To the OP just check it out at the Thai labor office, im not sure if they have a trail period like in some countries. However if the guy is genuinely sick be compassionate.

As a general rule, new employees get a probation period of three months, if not otherwise stated in the employment contract. During this period, they can be fired without reason.

However, there might be a protection while they are on sick leave. Better check with the Labour Department or a specialized lawyer.

You only pay THB 300/day to your staff? And you want to torch companies that give jobs to people, so that all these jobs get lost?

I see you are a real social hero.
