True Broadband Upgrades

Featured Replies

This article is fresh off the Net. Perhaps an improvement in service like delivering the DSL bandwidth they advertise would be a True start.

I have doubts about this kind of technology... it's highly doubtful that it can solve a lot of True's problems, since the highly diverse nature of p2p files is going to be very hard to cache.

It's "True" that p2p, especially bittorrent, does eat up a lot of True's bandwidth. However, it's also true that most of that bandwidth use is from a very very small percentatge of people, who abuse their bandwidth 24/7. It would be a smart move if True were to adapt the practices of western broadband ISPs... cut of the line of any subscriber that uses inordinate amounts of bandwidth (in the magnitude of 100+gb/month). You lose a few selfish bastards, but gain the satisfaction of the rest. However, True has never actually been known to make smart decisions, and I doubt that they'll implement something like this. What they have done is packet shaping, which p*sses off everyone, and that's the general result of most of True's decisions.

For some reason, Swedish ISPs manage fine with providing reasonable bandwidth despite the fact that most Swedes under 30 with a computer use BitTorrent and DirectConnect constantly. The issue is not even up to debate.

Swedish ISP's do not have to pay CAT to access international lines either.
