It's mind boggling how far some people go here to excuse and justify Thaksin's action. The biggest human rights abuser in history of Thailand - a proven fact, a megalomaniac with serious dictatorial tendencies - a proven fact, the best friends with another megalomaniac-former Khem Rouge executioner Hun Sen, who helped and organised smuggling of arms and weapons to red shirt controlled areas in rural Thailand, outright betrayal of his own country and siding with Thailand's arch enemy Cambodia etc...etc...The man is a despicable creature. There is no man in Thai recent history who has done more financial damage to Thailand than him. Get a grip.

Thank you all, this topic made my day ( except for the red misted <deleted> ). You should all watch the documentary Paradoxocracy. One of the interviewees said 'Thaksin was a businessman and he ran his government like a business.' This is rather accurate, Thaksin sees himself as the CEO and he is just 'profit sharing', he as CEO takes the biggest chunk and distributes the rest among his shareholders ( MP's ). But why is he trying to bankrupt his own company ? Well, people are trying to oust him in a 'hostile' ( though in this case really rather peaceful though loud ) takeover, so he is trying to take as much out of the bussiness as he can before he is forced out.

Why would it matter if Thaksin picked the candidates, run the government and drove the bloody bus. The reason a broad spectrum of Thai People, not only the poor, voted for PTP because he was the man they wanted running the country.

No, they voted for him because he offered a seat on the gravy train for all of them.

How long it will take for them to realise that they have been conned, is just a matter of time.... a few trips to the shop and examining the contents of their pockets will eventually take its toll.
