1st visa run to Myanmar - what exactly is needed RE Air ticket or eTicket paid in full

Featured Replies

My 30 days visa ends 1/12, so i'm heading to Myanmar by then to apply for 60 day visa... says i need: Air ticket or eTicket paid in full. I don't know yet when i'll exactly leave Thailand (within 60 days/sometime in March 2014) or where I'll go yet... don't have on-going flight booked... so don't have air ticket/e-ticket. Is that what they want? how do i deal with that?

Please reply soon. And thanks for the help!!

Where , Exactly, do you hope to secure this " visa" from in Myanmar ?

Maybe better you look to Vientiane for a tourist visa

AFAIK the only place that you can obtain a visa in Myanmar is at the Embassy in Yangon. There have not been many reports about this Embassy. It would be far easier to get the visa in Laos unless you have ongoing plans in Myanmar.

To meet their requirements you would have to purchase a ticket, paid in full, with an open return, or one with a date that is flexible. These types of tickets are usually expensive.

Yes, from the embassy in Yangon and yes, will be traveling in Myanmar for a week or so. What i'm not clear on is the ticket --- do you mean a ticket back into thailand or one that takes me out of Thailand at the end of 60 days?

Also do you know a link to the visa application? i have a link to a page but it's from all different thai embassies in the US. Is there a page with one to fill out over here?

thanks for helping! V

Not sure why not many people have applied in Yangon - I saw another western woman and a second foreigner applying for visas there, they both received them just fine - perhaps it's just that not everyone uses TV to report their experiences.

I got my non-B visa in Yangon in late October and arrived and left Myanmar overland for Thailand...of course no ticket is required for non-B visas. While I agree that Vientiane and Savannakhet are the most trouble free, as long as you buy a ticket out of Thailand (or just bring along an itinerary for a flight that hasn't been paid for) it's easy to apply in Yangon.

In fact, it may only be a matter of time before all Thai embassies and consulates overseas enforce greater scrutiny with regards to required documents for visa issuance, Laos included.

There have been a few reports. I don't recall them wanting a ticket out of Thailand to get the visa.

Here's their website: http://www.thaiembassy.org/yangon/en/services.

You can download the application form.

This is what it states:

5. confirmed round trip air ticket or hotel reservation/accommodation reference (for travelling through border)

Not exactly sure exactly what they want since it says air ticketOR hotel reservation>
