Thrift Store of Salvation Army in Bangkok ?

Featured Replies

I plan to give away some of more old clothing to some charity organisations in Bangkok.

I used to give them to Salvation Army when I was outside Thailand. But I'm not sure if Thailand has a SA Thrift Store or similar set-ups.

Apart from giving them to your condo maids, how do you normally dispose of your old clothing ?

A, give it to the in-laws,

B, sell it to the rag and bones man.

I dropped off a bag of clothes a couple of days ago at a new condo construction site - the guard wondered what I was up to so I gave him a couple of baht (100) and all was fine. I couldn't bring myself to stay and watch but I did glance back for a second - you'll get a lump in your throat.

There was a thread about that a while ago.

this was my post then ...

... or there is an Aussie based organisation called Second Chance.

A traditional Australian op-shop is funding school holiday activities for
children in one of the poorest slums in Thailand's capital.

Second Chance sells mostly second hand goods from expats to pay for various
sport and art activities in the notorious slum of Klong Toey.

It's now developing a so called "upcycling" program in which Thai women in
need of an income make old clothes into new items - many of which are
then sold back to foreign residents.
