"'We have right to freeze assets'"

Because we are the govt, because we are strong, because we can, because we want to, because we don't like you and your views. These give us the right to do this, legally, well, that's another matter.

PT in a nutshell, we have the power to misuse the law as a weapon, stop us if you can.

Suthep and his gang want an extra constitutional military coup d'état.

They got it in 2006 and effectively in 2008, and are now counting on it again literally as the culmination of their present chaos and anarchy.

Suthep and the Democrat Party have quickly regressed into a major anti-democracy force among otherwise democratic nations and peoples .

What is the history of movements that are bent on stopping elections in a democracy,in favor of a "temporary" appointed governing council?

Fascism.

Dont just freeze, seize.

Money is needed to repair the damage done to public buildings and compensate the murdered pro goverment supporters caused by the yellow mob.

Yes, go ahead and compound the abuse of power with a criminal act ... pure genius!

The damage that you speak of was primarily to computers, many of which had had the hard drives removed, which sounds suspiciously like someone taking measures prior to leaving the building, as opposed to the act of someone who was there to occupy it...!

As regards "murdered pro-government supporters", do you have some evidence that might help in these cases? And it seems that you have conveniently forgotten that there was loss of life on both sides...!!

Were you hibernating in 2010?

In 2010, 92 Red Shirt supporters were killed and subsequently Suthep and Abhisit were served arrest warrents for murder relating to these deaths.

Suthep has too much blood on his hands. He should be locked up and the key should be thrown away.

I didn't realise that the 20 soldiers that were killed in 2010 were red shirt supporters. It seems the red shirt militia killed some of their own.

Sent from my phone ...

20 soldiers were not killed in 2010.

Ah the new self appointed and self opinionated judge, jury and public executioner.

How in the name of Buddha in a country of 60 million do we end up with the option of KS or KT as the nation's de facto leader?

Talk about Hobson's choice. Or maybe it's just the Lord's way of punishing the Thai people en masse for breaking so many Buddhist tenets.

Of course he does, he has the right t do whatever Thaksin tells his to do.

But that's not all, as reported elsewhere :

The police have set up a special unit headed by none other than Police General Winai who is the husband of a niece of Thaksin ex wife, his offsider is a close aid of a former national police chief who is Thaksins brother in law.

They have a list of about 300 of the protesters who they call trouble makers that they will be targeting

They have 140 plain clothes cops some disguised as protesters (how to disguise themselves as protesters?) to mingle with the crowds, talk to them and take photos in an attempt to incriminate as many as possible.

As of yesterday, I kept hearing that at least one of the Thai banks were not honoring the DSI's freeze and preferred to see if the Court was supporting this. I haven't seen it anyplace in print, but let's see how this plays out.

Fascism.

Suthep is a fascist. I've said so all along. Abhisit is not part of his fascist plans, despite his cowardice in failing to condemn, them he is not part of them. However this does not excuse the authoritarian bullying ways of PT. just because Suthep is wrong, it doesn't make PT right. Edited by Bluespunk

In many countries around the world the general train of thought would be - "If they were not there, doing what they were doing, nobody would have been killed".

Go back to the source of the problem, who instigated the events of 2010 ? I think you will find it was your hero, the criminal Thaksin Shinawatra. He is the one with blood on his hands, and should be rotting in a dirty prison cell, not illegally running a government from a luxury penthouse. thumbsup.gif

RIGHT ON !!

"from a luxury penthouse"

According to the June-2011 interview in 'Der Spiegel', self-exiled former-PM Thaksin lives in a gleaming white villa in "Emirates Hills", near a golf course & lake, how he must dream of having a luxury penthouse ! rolleyes.gif

Your point is well taken as I share your thinking and views in just about every post you've made recently, including what you just said.

Yes, one has to keep his eye on the government for abuse of power. Still, a government has the inherent right to protect itself against anarchy and revolution. We have to examine the government in instance by instance, according to the circumstance of each instance and in any action it may take.

Seizing the assets of anarchists or incipient fascists is a legal right some constitutions would deny but in this place constitutions are essentially tissue paper.

When the opposition becomes openly extra constitutional by any standard, as in openly advocating a coup, then it's past time to lock 'em all up.

This being Thailand, however, the extent of lawlessness on both sides and the general tolerance of it becomes self-destructive very quickly.

Don't let Suthep make Abhisit look too good because Mark is delivering the goods he needs to deliver, i.e., the Democrat Party, while trying to appear to be the choir boy.
