Bangkok Police arrest Ramkhamhaeng students accused of killing Redshirt

When will this country cease releasing these ludicrous, self-incriminating posed photos of criminal suspects ? The Khaosod publication has done it again. In spades. They take a serious story and give the moral last word to Jatuporn. " ... those who whipped up the hatred must be responsible. " Jatuporn - talking about responsibility ! " Brothers and sisters, burn them ! I will take responsibility ! " Of course, that wasn't Jatuporn, as we all know and remember, and as every publication in the world remembered at the time. No, it was someone else. But the responsibility that particular man assumed was to be appointed a cabinet minister. Of agriculture ! Perhaps if Khaosod publish that, they would gain more credibility before they conduct an on the spot interview with Jatuporn again.

"These two suspects might end up losing their bright future as criminals in murder cases," Mr. Jatupon said, "Therefore, those who urged the Ramkhamhaeng students to fight with Redshirts and those who whipped up the hatred must be responsible".

Looks like their bright future as criminals in murder cases is still ahead of them and won't be lost.

Not diminishing their culpability, if they are indeed guilty, but what about the responsibility of those who bussed the red shirts down to Bangkok to cause chaos, i.e. Mr Jatuporn et al. Would any have come without the transport, cash and food provided? Not to the mention the police who failed to intervene after the situation got out of hand.

What about an arrest in the case of the murder of the Ramkhamhaeng student?

I agree that police should be looking for the one who shot the SBAC student. Less chance of that because we all know that justice isn't impartial. But why were the red shirts going into a stadium 'causing chaos' and not the students who decided to move from Nang Lerng to RU and erect a stage? They had their right to peaceful expression and decided instead to forgo that and block others from attending perfectly legitimate rally. Obviously I think that the red shirts were stupid for choosing that as their rally site, but that doesn't mean the students had the right to attack them.

Also, the police did try to intervene. But what were they supposed to do with people on both sides shooting? Start firing wildly themselves? Wouldn't that have made things worse?

'Would any have come without the transport, cash and food provided?'

Not surprising you're angered and annoyed when the BBC interview actual red shirts and find that they actually believe in what they're doing and aren't just motivated by 200 baht and free food. It's amazing that you still believe this is all about money. If it was - there would be no significant problem...

So you want Khao Sod to publish the speech Nattawud gave in 2010 in response to an article about police finding the alleged killers of a red shirt? Why shouldn't one of the red shirt leaders be allowed to comment on the killing of one of their supporters anyway? Jatuporn may be a hypocrite but at least he acknowledged that a student died, unlike the supporters of the PDRC, many of whom still believe that the students were completely peaceful and that 5 of them died.

As I say, I'd really like to hear Suthep and the RU Rectors comments on this. Hopefully they'd congratulate the police on their work so far, but insist that justice should be impartial and that police should also investigate who from the red shirt side is responsible for the death of a student.

Mr. Jatupon Prompan, a leader of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD), said in a press conference that leaders of the anti-government movements must be held responsible for the actions of Mr. Teerapat and Mr. Noppadol.

And will Jatuporn be arrested for inciting violence? He challenged these students, "If you come near the stadium, it will be students who get hurt, not red shirts" No responsibility taken for bringing people with a record of violent behaviour to the fringe of a university campus.

Oh dear. I was always led to believe that 5 students died.

If not 5 students, then what?

This is just DSI tactics to make Ram Uni students look bad.

I have no proof, but I suspect Thaksin pay the boys enough, so he can re-write history.

There are conspiracy theories and there is simply dumb. Your choice

This clearly stinks of a cover up for the reds(UDD) against the protesters. What a pile of BS

As above . . .

I do wonder if the tinfoil hat brigade was just as politically engaged and informed at 'home' or if they graduated in Thailand

As a supposedly intelligent person do you, in all honesty, believe that Thaksin had anything to do with these two young students taking the law into their own hands and firing a gun indiscriminately into a crowd of pro-government supporters?

What else do you blame Thaksin for? The death of Nelson Mandela? The Philippine earthquake and typhoon? The weather?

For goodness sake dear friend come down to Earth and stop making ridiculous assumptions about Thaksin's involvement in absolutely EVERYTHING that happens in Thailand

Ah.........the magical "no proof" but I suspect Thaksin paid two people to murder someone unknown argument.

How very clever.

Hot blood + hand guns = Life time of regret. I feel sorry for all involved. A protester who looses his life and these poor saps

who will have to live with killing someone they didn't really even know in a frenzied moment of passion and anger.

Not only these two should receive the toughest sentence for shooting an unarmed red shirt, but Suthep, as well as the ones who support his insane movement full of hatred, should also be held responsible. This is one more proof that these protesters are nothing more than yellow thugs and criminals, rather than the "well behaved middle class and hard working students" that many on this forum prefer to refer too.

I think that most rational people would agree that who ever perpetrated this shooting should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law however, that is rather an oxymoron in this country. However,I think you need to get out more to realize that the protester are far for thugs, anarchists and criminals as was the case in the Silom riots of 2010. There are simply masses of Thia people from all walks of life that are sick to death of the Shiniwatara's , PTP and the rampant corruption, nepotism and gross ineptitude predicated by this current misgovernment. A stable ,competent and corruption free government is not a foreseeable option in the short term however , anything would be better than the circus clowns of the PTP pretending to have , ability, intellect and moral fortitude. Bottom line is that Yingluck must go and if her escapist brother does not stop meddling in local politics he should be charged with sedition.

Any chance they might catch the man in black who was caught on cctv camera pointing his gun and shooting someone ? We know he actually did something wrong. And as for Jatuporn, he has got some bloody nerve. When is he going to accept HIS responsibility in the violence he incited and the burning down of buildings ? We are way beyond double standards with this moronic hatemonger, we must be at least up to frickin triple or quadruple by now....?

Somehow, I don't think you would support this view if the redshirts were the shooters. Just saying!!!!! May, 2010 seems to come to mind.

This BBC report shows some of the others the police will be seeking. I've not seen this pic on any other site. Shows one trying to smash open the door of a public bus with a crowbar while another fires a slingshot at passengers inside, from close range. Real charmers, probably public admin majors

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-25483401

Unfortunately the bus was paint with the wrong colour. RED.

I hope Santa Clause is not accused to be a Red shirt under Thaksin payroll.

Unfortunately it's far too easy to get a mob together & "frenzied" here, by just about anyone, for any reason.

These guys are obvious scapegoats.

The police say they used trajectory reports to basically identify the dorm window the guy was shooting from... I wonder how they managed that. They would have to have video of the exact position he was standing in as the bullet struck him and factor in bullet travel time which is not easy if the victim was moving, which I doubt he was standing dead still like a mannequin.

Secondly, why not just do a simple ballistics fingerprint test on the bullet that came out of the victim to match it with the gun? It would take about 15 minutes and a lot simpler than their crazy trajectory BS which is open to all sorts of influences and inaccuracies.

Thirdly, everyone on here knows full well that the police are corrupt as they come and they will do anything and everything to offer up a scapegoat, where if the truth be known, they are probably among the most inept forces in the world regarding detection rates.

As a footnote. I would like to add that I am absolutely dismayed at the amount of farangs who agree with that hypocrite Jutaporn, when they agree that the protest leaders need to be charged with murder too. What a load of crap. I have heard some shit on this forum, but that takes some beating... It really does.

It was probably the police that killed all those people... I can't prove it, but I can probably put more faith in that, than I can in this load of old codswallop.

Unfortunately for you there is a greater 'mass' of Thais who support PheuThai.

Let the opposition parties put forward their manifestos so that the country can vote on policies rather than personalities.

You are falling into the same trap as the Philippine electorate who elected a movie star with disastrous consequences

It is not enough to constantly lambast the Shinawatras, you have to put forward credible alternatives. Abhisit's unelected term in office was nothing short of disastrous. What makes you think that returning him legitimately would make any difference to his incompetence?.

Western democracies have come out strongly in support of Yingluck's government because it was DEMOCRATICALLY elected.. America and Britain would similarly support any future government that gained it"s position through the ballot box

There's also the point of how these folks were treated:

- Get on the bus.

- Get off the bus.

- Nothing happens.

- Get back on the bus now.

Outrageous treatment.

There's also the point in regard to the police photo-op, whether the firearm was rendered inoperable.

If not, then we have two young men accused of using the gun being photographed close enough to grab the gun.

I'm not suggesting at all that they are in fact guilty of the crime involved here, that's needs to decided by an appropriate court.

Their elected leader was under threat why shouldn't supporters travel to Bangkok to make their voices heard?

Of course when very large groups of opposing protesters meet there are bound to be confrontations and casualties

Incentives were probably offered but so what? Poorer people from the provinces face far greater hardships when they are voicing their support for PheuThai in the capital than the students and middle classes already incumbent in Bangkok

Don't just sit there at your PC declaring that Abhisit's short term in office was 'nothing short of disastrous'.

Please feel free to elaborate on the disasters that occurred while he was in office.

It isn't good enough to just declare a disaster, please tell us in detail seeing as you seem to be so convinced.
