Sorry, certain things are unacceptable. Especially if we are paying for that service.

"Meals were cold and french fries soggy...."

Just wait until you've already paid then suddenly there's a penis.

On my way back home at lunch time I stopped at a drive thru at McDonalds for lunch. To my surprise they told me no friend fries. I couldn't stop laughing. I told the girl that's like going to a Thai restaurant and being told sorry no have rice today.

Same thing at Mos Burger Emporium a few weeks back. I went to Burger King instead.

Hehehe..we all know about service and customer care in Thailand.

I have had BK in the UK before. Quite some time ago and it was in Guildford.

No problems smile.png

Maybe BK has deteriorated in the UK now...?

Try the one at East Croydon station. You will love it.

This happened a couple of years ago in Chiang Mai, I made a very specific order for a hamburger without, mustard and Ketchup When I took a bite of the burger, it was a plain hamburger, I took it back and told them that is not what I ordered

the young lady said I ordered a plain burger and I realized I said I did not want mustard or ketchup on it I wanted a plain hamburger.

I made the mistake and I asked the young lady if she could just put the onion lettuce and other stuff on the plain burger, they gave me a new burger, I was more than satisfied with the service as my wording in making the order caused the mix up!

Cheers

I don't like McDonalds and prefer BK.

I did too, in America where they use better beef and it is char-broiled. Here they both seem to use the same tasteless beef and Burger King is much more expensive than McDonald's. In Thailand, if I wany a fast food burger, I stick with Ronald McDonald (but I have not had a chance to try Carl's Junior here yet).

Fast food is becoming more and more popular because of the western exposure. Also, for a Thai guy to take his lady to for instance KFC is showing he is not a cheapskate and has money to spend. This all to impress the lady and show he has money, instead of taking her for a cheap Thai meal of 30 or 40THB.

These burgers we had were pre prepared...

Therefore the soggy fries and cold burgers.

To cut a long story short...service and customer care sucks here. They just don't care.

We live here so it is expected of us to accept the crappy service with the rest of the Thai people.

Thais as a rule never complain because it gets frowned upon.

Fast food is becoming more and more popular because of the western exposure.

Ban the rotten stuff now! This is one sphere of 'Western influence' this country certain does not need. Unless Thailand really wants an even bigger epidemic of obesity, diabetes and everything that goes with that including serious impacts on economic development.

Send the military in to close these joints down.

Some people will argue it's all about personal choice. But if cigarettes were introduced now with all the knowledge we have about their health risks, would they be legalized? Of course not.

Everytime we go to the bigger retail outlets here in the northeast (yes, even the northeast!) we see morbidly obese children in the likes of KFC stuffing down french fries and fried chicken. I'm glad the people that work in these places are turning out poor service and poor cooking standards. Perhaps they're trying to tell their countrymen something.

Not defending BK, but I'm sure if you'd have taken the meal back, they'd have replaced it no qualms. Have done so with Maccie Ds on a few occasions and no probs.

And yes we all know you can't live on it, but as the op, once in a while it's comforting to pig out on that crap... relax guys! rolleyes.gif

Trouble is people do end up living on it and it soon out competes the healthy option leaving it as the only option.

Nothing anyone says is going to sway my beliefs on this subject, so lets just agree to disagree now (this is not aimed at Jack by the way).

Your 100 per cent correct if the Thai BK where in the States the Company would close them down.BK here are not the same.

Yes, as I have already pointed out BK and McD prepare the same burgers differently to suit the Thai tastes. *shock*

Namely:

1) not zapping the patty after the cold cheese has been placed on top.

2) Toasting the buns much, much less.

These are the ways each franchise have been told to serve them in Thailand.

Really, is ordering a burger without mustard or ketchup the same as ordering a plain burger ?

Glad you were satisfied but you should change your member title to Thai apologist member .

I doubt making a complaint to Burger King Thailand is going to make any difference. We are talking about mass produced crap and the likes of McDonald's, Burger King and KFC are hardly the epitome of gastronomic excellence.

If I want to consume good quality food I'll pay a premium for it and invariably only a small premium, particularly in Thailand.

My wife and I steer well clear of these establishments both in Thailand and the West.

We all need to vent sometimes.

Taking the time to make official complaints to Burger King because the fries were 'soggy' when you bought them at the airport....

when really the issue was, well, where do we begin with Farangs in Thailand and getting worked up.

I'm sure there's enough worked up threads to fill a subforum. The 'Are you fit to explode forum. For all your explosive anger and frustrations'.

Okay, I'll go first:

Me: Dear Burger King, my bap had a soggy bottom and I could taste the pesticide on the lettuce. I claim recompense of the 400 baht bill. I remain incandescent with rage.

BK: Dear Mr Angry, the soggy bottom bap and lettuce with pesticide jus combo is actually 700 baht.

I've now escalated to the Corporate Office in Miami and await a response. If I don't get 3000 baht of Burger King vouchers as compensation I'll throw a hissy fit.

All the food places air side of emmigration are overpriced. I buy food at the Family Mart and take it through with me.

Same applied at all airports I've been through.

you need to travel more/different airports! ;)

while i agree BK is overpriced at the airport vs. regular city prices...

I am more often eat in McD...and Hongkong airport McD is cheaper than the one in Thailand, most recently Dubai McD Big Mac meal came about 7.5$, and i find that very reasonable, same cost was Buenos Aires, again recently.

try to survive on the healthy thai style omelette?

I am as OP is, eat fast food occasionally, and as a "treat" for me, and my son...and i dont see anything wrong in it!

Anyway, on the countryside not many fast food where we are, even the nearest, KFC is 30km away one way...and i dont eat there, the nearest McD is 65km...not worth a trip on their own.

Sorry..I don't get the "voting with your feet next time" smile.png

And Soutpeel..I gather you are South African.. what with the potjie and all smile.png

BTW..I don't live on Burger King..it's a treat every now and then.

Move to Chiang Mai we have two with great service and one in the airport. I suppose the service in the airport is OK but they do not have the full menu.wai2.gif

How?

Please feel free to read the original topic about Burger King in Thailand that I posted.

In the USA or Europe they would never get away with this kind of terrible service.

It's an international franchise and they should all follow the same code of ethics....even in Thailand.

I agree I want poutine. Here in Thailand.

Why didn't you take the soggy fries to the counter and exchange them.

As you probably know by now...all I would have gotten would have been a blank stare or a smile...

No entiendo...

I did that once before...McDonalds, Pattaya

Thank you all for your input and comments.
Once again, I have to stress that this is NOT directed at the Thai people or the country.
It is just bad service, bad management and improper training.
I love this country and I enjoy living here.
A bit of constructive criticism may do wonders.
We have all had our share of bad service.

I went to dine at a famous fried chicken outlet in Pattaya once. No napkins were provided and when I asked for napkins I was told...no have.
A few minutes later I saw the lady behind the service counter leave the establishment, only to return a few minutes later with my "napkins". Toilet paper that she went to go and get from the toilet.
Say no more smile.png

I had the same experience at the airport mate, i don't go there anymore.

Other BK in Thailand have very dumb personell that does everything wrong, wrong burger, wrong bill, cold fry's.

Go to MOS-burger and you will never go back to BK

In the MBK they do it well at BK but have to learn proper english.

Thanks for the advice about MOS mate. I'll give it a try next time I am in BKK.

So now the question is..what does Mos stand for and do they have outlets in Siam Paragon or Terminal 21?

English..I fully agree. Lack of basic English knowledge. I was an English teacher for 2 years. I know exactly what you are talking about.

I can speak and understand some Thai but their argument is...learn English..why..for what?

If they're just ending up working in a burger joint, I'd have to agree with them.

Not having a go, take this as a light hearted response.

I wasn't cpmplaining about the price but the poor service.

For the amount that you pay for a burger at BK you expect top quality.

Unfortunately these "meals" are pre prepared and go cold and the fries soggy.

I've never had "top quality" from Burger King anywhere. As for the airport relative to all the "restaurant/cafes" that serve slop the best meal I can find is Pizza company. At least the pizza is cooked in an oven and hot. This says more about the low level of "food" served everywhere else at the airport.

MOS stands for Mountain Ocean Sun. In Japan only McDonalds are bigger, popular in Singapore as well. There is one in the basement of Terminal 21 and also in Paragon and Central World.
