AaronIsaan
Hi, next monday i have to go to Nong Khai for a border run, does anyone knows if i can change bahts to dollars in Nong Khai? If so, any place near bus station or border? Last time i tried to change in Laos part of the bridge, but they only had 100 US notes, too much for me, only need 35. Thanks in advance! koo
Hi. There is a gold/jewellery shop, inside the market strip called "Tha Sadet" in Nong Khai town that will exchange baht for dollars. The exchange rate is very reasonable. Should you need Laos KIP they are also willing to help. If you enter the Tha Sadet from the western side, it should be on your right (not riverside) after about 100-150 meters. There are not many (if any other?) gold shops/jewellers in the area so you should be able to find it easily.

Shop is called Porntip Exchange and they usually have the best rates in town, small notes ($1,$5,$10), and other local currencies as well as many international ones on hand. GinBoy2
Just curious. Why not just change it at local bank before you go to Nong Khai. I would suspect the bank will give you a better exchange rate than a gold shop. Major banks even in small towns tend to have USD on hand Edited December 29, 2013 by GinBoy2

GinBoy2
Gotta admit on $35, the exchange rate is hardly much of an issue. 33/$ 1155 Baht: 30/$ 1050 Baht, 100 Baht difference

I live in Kaset Sombun, 74 kms. from Kaeng Khro, i think is also too much distance for my bike, but is good to know that alternative,. Thanks!
