mizztraveller
Does anyone happen to know if/where I can buy a wheat bag in Chiang Mai? I don't know if they have an alternative name in the US and Australia but they're bags containing wheat which are heated in the microwave and applied to the body to relieve pain. Strangely, I didn't think to bring one with me!
worgeordie
If you cannot find one in Chiang Mai, maybe you could make one and use rice instead of wheat, cannot see it been that difficult,or get one of the ladies with a sewing machine, found in most markets to make a bag for you. When you cannot find what you need here ,you either have to try and make it yourself or get it sent to you. regards Worgeordie
CobraSnakeNecktie
can use many other fillers other than wheat. http://tipnut.com/make-your-own-microwave-heating-pad/ Uncooked rice Wheat Feed corn Buckwheat hulls Barley Oatmeal Beans Flax seed Cherry pits
eyecatcher
You can also use stone pebbles...they retain heat much longer than the foodstuffs, although not as malleable on some areas of the body. By the way...barley mentioned above. Have you ever seen barley balls here. Used in ponds to clear algae and other green weedstuffs.
maderaroja
You might want to rethink the use of dry grain for this purpose. it will collect moisture and mold inside the bag.
BillyBobThai
Be careful with corn as some pops big time in the m/w.
mizztraveller
Thanks for the suggestions. I'd thought about getting one of those travel neck supports and changing the 'filling' to rice. Will that go mouldy if I heat it in a microwave? maderaroja
You know, the Tesco pharmacy has very good hot water bottles. I don't know what will happen if you put the rice bag in the microwave.
