All banks now charging for purchases?

Featured Replies

Folks,

Being a HSBC premier account holder, I was surprised and disappointed on my return to the UK to find that I have been charged Circa 3% whenever I took cash out of an ATM (on top of the 150b), but also on Credit Card purchases.

May I assume that most banks are now doing this and more importantly, which UK or global banks do not impose these charges?

Was that with a creditcard ? and how did you see the 3 percent in a bad rate or as extra costs ?

My Dutch Rabobank does not add extra charges on top of the atm fee as far as i know.

All my UK credit cards have a loading for use abroad - varies from 2.5 to 3%. Cash withdrawals also get charged which is why I newver use them unless it is an emergency.

It all depends on the individual issuer.

Not Thai-related, and topt's post answers the question.
