get rid of those tiny ants with spray, you may not leave since youve fixed things already, and avoid leaving some foods, if u can keep them in your ref. but if they insist of coming in your room, buy some sticky traps and put some food on it, like the mouse sticky trap.

The only thing that I have found which eliminates the ants are ARS ANT KILLER traps. They are sold in all of the supermarkets.

A photo of the package you will be looking for can be found at http://www.amazon.com/ARS-Killer-Bait-Eradicate-Ants/dp/B008MLAF7C

Spread them around anywhere where you have seen ants and in 24 hours, the ants are gone.

I don't think these traps work on the tiny ants I believe the OP is plagued by.

Sugar ants, the type that appear when there is something sweet or even a dead fly for them to eat.

I use a cavity spray, but first backtrack them to see where they are coming from, some little hole some-place that can be sprayed into then blocked.

And thanks for the tip there about adding a bit of sugar to the traps! I use them for the red 'fire-ants'.

Sorry the OP is having such a miserable time because of a bad renter!

Well, they work well for me. The tiny ants were into everything - can't tell you how many food items we had to throw out because of them.

Tried sprays, etc., and they were gone for a few days but then returned with reinforcements.

I saw a post on TV which mentioned the ARS traps, and figured I would try them, since everything else seemed to be temporary. Put them in places where we had had problems and bingo - no more ants.

I have about half a dozen spread out in various places, and change them about once per month because the yellow poison crystals coagulate in the humidity.

These tiny bugs sound like bed bugs. These are notoriously hard to remove and expensive as smoke treatment is required as they can hide in grains of wood without detection.

They dont sound like bedbugs at all. Bedbugs are much larger than that and rarely seen in daylight and never on food.

If you have them you will know all about it from the nasty bites they give you at night and which you discover only later when they start itching. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bed_bug

To me these things sound like small ants. I have them in my condo and they are very hard to get rid of permanently because they just come back in from another condo unit, or from outside (even on very high floors). I find that crevice ant spray a couple of times a month is fairly effective - poke the long nozzle right into the crevice they are coming out of - but apart from that I just ignore them.

Yeah, agree with others. Get out. Just pack your stuff and scram. Landlord nailed you cold and nothing you can do about it. Your deposit and *sweat equity* are history.

Again, as stated above, serviced apartments are all over the place. Also great hotels renting at monthly and weekly rates, cheap and easy. Check classifieds at this thing called "Thai Visa". See also Craigslist (sometimes more Western-savvy), look for the word "new" and be ready to negotiate. Their "high season" will not be high for long.

(Really, you're thinking about doing battle with the bugs? Again, best to surrender now than surrender later. The crap landlord and his insects beat you on this one.)

And just how did the landlord nail him? The guy offered a place to rent for 29,000 and he took it. Not the renters fault. he only tried to get all he could from the renter.

Totally is the tourists fault for not looking.

You stand little chance of getting your deposit back if the experience with the owner has been poor so far. I would do as many other posters here suggest and just leave. You can find a nicer place for about the same money but this time be sure of what you are getting before you sign the lease and pay the money. Make sure everything works, the cleanliness of the place is to your satisfaction and the internet is working and not too slow for what you want.

Chalk your experience up to a learning moment and remember the next time you rent to look before you buy.

Are they sold in supermarkets in Thailand, or do I have to get them from Amazon? If the latter, Amazon may not ship to Thailand.

Yeah and as you won't get your deposit back you have nothing to lose - have a crap on the floor, re-design the walls and fixtures and fittings before just walking out without saying goodbye. It seems like the owner needs something to spend your money on.

If you decide to just walk away after you find another place, there are ways to get your own back just before you leave. Think about it.

I buy them at Best Supermarket at Dolphin Circle, but I would imagine that Foodland, Big C, perhaps even HomePro and HomeWorks will sell them.

Where to move is the question that will do a two month lease? Is there a clean, quiet, enjoyable place that will rent for two months high season?

A couple weeks ago we looked at a place on Soi 1 across from Sabai Wing that does month to month. It's a bit old, but rent starts at 7000b a month

Well you certainly are having a miserable time Fabulousheart. Broken sofa, dirty sheets, TV not working, no internet, a plague of ants, condo full of noxious fumes after spraying for bugs, etc etc. And you can't even escape to the beach for some respite from all this misery without someone having the temerity to light up a cigarette, turning the whole of Jomtien beach into a "Non stop chimney"! My advice to you for 2014 is,' Don't even think about buying a lottery ticket'! If you fell into a barrel of boobs you would come up sucking your thumb!

Typical statement from the classless acts that infest Pattaya/Jomtien. The kind of guy that Pattaya made its reputation on.

Well had he been Thai we would have had to wade through all the lectures about Thais not planning ahead or not dealing with the consequences of their actions or about the vastly superior, clinical thinking of the typical western mind or worse.

At least this was a light-hearted comment about a situation that will probably be looked back upon with cringing humor by the O/P. We all make mistakes and you have to admit renting a condo for three months without looking at it is a winner in that category. Possibly he's due a little ribbing. Of course the implication of your comment is that were Jomtien infested with those of your ilk it would be a wonderful world indeed. I have my doubts. Possibly the O/P's dilemma reminds you of something you've done and it still rankles.

Sorry to hear of your disappointment.

If your small Bugs seem immune to pest spray the may be 'Black Dust Mites' so small you can hard see the and don't die even when sprayed. Most houses have a few (One or two insects sighted per day) should be tolerable. However your infestation could only have reached the proportions you describe if a person with disgusting personal habits lived there for months. If they are in the bed the best way to get rid of them is to hoover the mattress (both sides) every time the bedding is changed. This is also the best way to get rid of biting bed bugs.

Best advice is pay a lawyer 1,000 Baht to write a letter to your Landlord asking for 100,000 Baht compensation and give it to your landlord when you tell him that you are leaving. He will likely give you your 25,000 Baht back and tell you to 'eff off'

If he does not respond got to the Tourist Police and tell them your story. They may decide to try and enforce the compensation claim. If they succeed you should share the recovered cash with them.

Nest go to a respectable upmarket condo 'of similar grade' to 'The Markland' on corner of Pattaya Beach Road and Soi 4. Usually you can get a modernised condo for less that what you pay now, but you must negotiate.

Good Luck

PS If your bugs are Termites and your condo is truly infested you should leave, Unless you want to spend your whole holiday looking for the ''Queen Termite" which will be birthing more termites faster than you can kill the existing one.

Don't loose heart there are many honest foreign businesses in Pattaya that give value and good service.

OP,you have given us a very little info,so our response or accuracy will be limited. It's obvious that you rented a 1bedroom or double room, which is about 66 sq.m.It's obvious to me,but not obvious to most BM.Stil paying 29,000 Baht is too much for a 1br.

InVT1.You didn't tell us if the landlord was falang or Thai.I'm pretty sure was the later, since only they will furnish the condo with

the cheapest furniture they can find.Moove ASAP when you finish the first mo.Don't trash it.The consequences could be greater.

As to where to rent, considering the high season and looking for an inexpensive rent, VT1 is good.(another important thing that

you didn't tell us is:do you rent a motorcycle or need a baht bus route near your condo)

Just change the building at VT1 deal only with a nice foreign owner, look for high floors on the Pattaya side(cooler, shadier)

Check everything before signing and good luck.

Well you are not the only one having these type of problem. Remember in Thailand when you pay, then you will never see that money again. You should be happy even if you get back your deposit sometimes. There are many condos in central Pattaya you could rent with that amount of money. One is View Talay 6 next to Central Festival Mall, The Urban Condo behind Avenue, and many more.

Spray I guess does not help. I had the same problem no matter where I live. Even when the room is lovely, clean, on top floor etc still these little tiny ants are coming from no where. May be you could ask bug specialist as what to do.

If you are very unhappy where you stay then may be you could get out of your contract by saying so. If you are lucky he accept and pay your deposit. But probably he will not accept and if you are ready to forget the deposit and just tell him I am leaving and please cancel my contract and I do not want my deposit.

Have fun
