Taxi from Bangkok to Aranyaprathet

Hi,

Has anyone on here got an idea of how much a taxi from BKK to Aranyaprathet is at the moment? It will only be for 2 people, so a standard taxi is all I need. Also whats the best way to go about it? I guess negotiating with a cab driver is better than booking through a hotel or travel agent?

Ill be staying in the Rambuttri area near KSR and would like an early cab, say around 7am to try and beat the midday border Queues at the border with Poipet.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Canarysun,

Time is of the essence, I am only away for a month and the train takes too long and requires getting up too early! I have done the train thing when I had a year in SE Asia and whilst I agree its a great way of travelling and meeting locals, its just not practical this time round.

Just googled the train, it leaves at 5.50 am, nah too early!!

The direct bus is pretty good. I took the "visa run" bus a few times and it was great. The mini buses drive like maniacs.

I have no idea what a taxi would cost, but I'm sure it won't be cheap. I'd just ask a few taxi drivers and see what they say.

Take the train? Air-con to Nong Khai maybe. 3rd class arriving at 13:00 at Aran no way.

Ask the taxi guys who hang outside of the Rambutri Inn or whatever it's called. There are usually a few of them and they all speak English.

I would leave earlier than 07:00 if I were you.

You could take one of the casino buses from Pinklao (or Lumpini if that is clearer for you) at about 5am for 200 baht, they only take 3hrs to get there and then a taxi back (google for contact info). But you then have the casino 8am rush going in but quick going back.

For a taxi one way expect around 3000, obviously less for a return trip. Some taxis carry the MOT/LTD lamented fare guide for provincial destinations.

Frankly, booking a vehicle and driver would be cheaper probably 1500 for the day on the basis you pay for the fuel.

Don't do this trip on the weekend if you can help it as it is a mess with all of the misture of casino crowds and travel groups. (Why not try the new Kan border crossing into Burma? A much nice trip and transport wise cheaper.......)
