Legal to import drugs

Featured Replies

I have a friend who has asked me to bring him some actifed. This is a cold/allergy drug brand name discontinued in the USA but I think I can find the generic still.

Thing is it contains the chemical used by chemists to make meth/yabba. Here in the US you have to show ID and only buy I think a weeks supply at a time. So it isn't prescription but it is behind the counter and slightly controlled.

Am I taking a risk buying some of this to bring to a friend? Or is the generic available in Thailand?

tripolidine hydrochloride and pseuudophedrine (this one is the controlled substance I think).

The problem would be when you arrive in the USA.

They stupidly banned over the counter cold medication containing pseudoephedrine here in Thailand.

It makes no sense at all as the people who were distributing this to illegal drug manufacturers were people in charge of bulk supplies, not pharmacists.

I believe despite this internal ban there will be no issue bringing some into the country for your own personal use. I know I'm bringing a load back from the UK the next time I go.

Thanks. I didn't realize it was banned in Thailand. And I certainly won't be bringing it back to the USA. If I buy it here for a friend in Thailand the last I'll see of it is handing it to him to deal with his allergies.

Unless someone knows differently I plan on bringing him a 2 week supply of this.

Surely your friend can find something at the drug store for a common cold.

If it's for meth he must be after a hell of a lot.

As they banned it, it just isn't worth the risk. Why be a 'mule' for a free beer for a bottle of cold medicine. I just don't believe it is worth the risk, especially now you know it is a banned substance. Don't do it is my advice ;) Good luck.

Thanks. Already made that decision when I found it was banned online here:

Friend can find a new allergy solution. thumbsup.gif

Which risk ? Ridiculous.

While on the topic of prescription substances, my brother in the US wants me to send him some of the local generic viagra by post and I wonder if there is any risk to me or him in sending?? He says that the branded version is over $10 a tab there.......

Which risk ? Ridiculous.

Is pseudophedrine banned or not? Why is it ridiculous to carry items that are banned for someone else?

I don't see the risk as ridiculous. First the odds of any of my stuff being looked at is low. And then, the odds they recognize a cold medication as on the banned risk is low also.

But for me, I don't need the risk if he wants an allergy medication. Obviously he wants to take it daily. Which means I'd have to bring a lot of it. No point in a one week supply. Which would then make it appear I wanted to make meth from it. Uh oh. Now I spend hours explaining my innocence. Really, low chances but major hassle can result. For no good reason.

He can find an allergy med that doesn't use that chemical. Millions do.

It is Never a good idea to help anyone, by importing any type of drugs, other things, maybe? drugs Never! If I ever have any free room in my luggage, that I have never had, foodstuff maybe any thing else No!

Act in haste repent in leisure!

I have heard of people getting prison time for a lot less, to some on the forum it is worth the risk, to me, things some one should do for themselves, is never worth my freedom!

Cheers
