Overstaying my first 90 day stamp on a Non-immigrant B visa by one day - what will happen?

Featured Replies

I came to Thailand on a one year non-immigrant B visa on November 5. The stamp I got on arrival expires on February 2, though I don't quite get the math there. What will be the consequences if I make my visa run on February 3? I had some huge unexpected expenses in December, and find I can't afford to pay for the visa run until my U.S. Social Security payment posts to my bank account here on February 3. Any information here will be much appreciated!

You will pay a fine of 500 baht per day you overstay.

This post is not about doing 90 day reports, which is something completly different from an extension of stay.

AS Mario has stated you will pay a fine of 500B for each day. It will not be a big deal, You did not say if you are going to boarder or flying out. If flying out then they waive the fee for the first day. However if more than 1 day they then charge you the 500B for the 1st day.

I'm sure some guys will be along shortly and start with the dont get caught or you will be in serious trouble bla bla. Which is true if the police catch you on over stay they can detain you and take you to immigration. Chances of getting caught are slim. You have a 1 visa and if on your way to the boarder they see you have a 1 year a visa and only 1 day it will not be an issue. There are some visa run companies that can take you to the boarder for the visa run for about 1800-2000B all inclusive, maybe you can muster up 2000B and do that.

But Mario said it so much more succinctly and without reference to boarders, whatever they are.

If you have a one year multiple entry cat B visa the visa itself is good for one year but you are only allowed to stay for 90 days each visit. You don't have to get a new visa, you just have to leave the country every 90 days and can come and go as many times as you want during the one year validity of the visa. Your last entry can be the day before the visa expires and stay for another 90 days if you so desire. Have never overstayed my cat B but agree with previouse posts about the 500 Baht per day fine.
