Foreign numb nuts on stage

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post
Just witnessed a couple of Italian and American tourist pillocks up on stage at one of the 'mob' protest sites being televised.

Do these numb nuts not realise (i)their opinion is not wanted and (ii) they clearly have no idea what they are talking about.

I fail to understand the allure of even considering such an ill-informed & ill advised participation in the political rally in a country they are visiting as Tourists!

Only small contribution they made was to give the assemble mob the chance to point and nudge the person next to them and utter with undertones of ridicule "doo doo Farang Farang!"

This applies to Foreign pseudo"Mob Meat' supporters of either side.

@OP: Whether you agree with what they are doing or not is it not better to actually be part of what THEY believe in rather than being the mighty keyboard warrior dissing those that actually get off their sofa?

All foreigners in Thailand should know that it's best to stay out of this, or risking being deported:

what they might believe in would be okay in their home country's ,but in Thailand they could get in to some serious trouble freedom of speech is a whole different ball game in Thailand.

It was a dead give away.........They were wearing fisherman's pants, had freshly braided dreads, and had flies buzzing around them because they hadn't washed for a month.....thumbsup.gif

Right, so just shut up and be a good farrang... Weren't all the American Revolutionaries British Subjects at the time? - Subject to British Law and death for their participation? But of course, do not want to upset the powers that be! Cajones.

Tosspot extraordinaire....

its possible some non-thais do know the issues!

Maybe these farangs think its early SONGKRAN - due to all the water canons been used lately !!

Makes me cringe every time I see a foreigner with a whistle.

It is about as congruous as when a Thai says 'its raining cats and dogs'.

Simply stated. We, the visitors, living in Thailand at the grace of the Thai government, have no say what so ever. Getting involved is just about as smart as trying to break up a fight between husband and wife in a bar. All you can expect is a well deserved bottle of beer to the noggin.

Putting aside the validity of whatever these "tourists" had to say was worth listening to or not...

I think it's very myopic for Thais to completely discredit and reject any opinions from people born outside of Thailand.

Short sighted, very immature, and often beyond logic.

Plenty of people have moved here and made Thailand their home, we contribute, and all of this affects us too.

Permanent residents should be allowed to vote + all the other trimmings, especially those with wives and children.

It reeks of xenophobia and "ooh this is Thailand, suck it" isn't an answer worth dignifying with a response.

Interesting that its in Thai, Engish, and...Burmese. Would have thought the Burmese would have stayed well away from these protests.

Citizens can vote. Same as all the other countries. If you have denounced your home country and now posses a Thai passport, you can vote. Where's the problem?

That's Laos, not Burmese.

Seems to me the Thai's were out in numbers in the USA protesting Taksin going there.

Maybe one day when and if Thailand does have democracy everybody will be

treated as equals and everybody and anybody can express themselves as they wish.

It's thai English and Laos

Maybe they were Thai citizens. My kids are Thai and could pass as foreign tourists.

I guess it's just like those foreigners wearing yellow shirts or wristbands.

Unfortunately they do discredit a lot of what foreigners have to say. Perhaps that is why we like the place so much as no foreigners have come in and runed it.

We all know that most Thai's have a very strong pride in their country and somehow believe if they let too many foreigners in they will lose what they have. I still remember when my wife came with me to Australia her father and educated mans last words were 'be careful over there daughter I think you have a good husband but not all farang smart, many farang are stupid'.

Both sides of politics dont seem to do foreigners any major favours and I lived here for five years and never really felt overly welcome. Never really managed to make any seriousThai friends and this was the first country I have lived in where I was not able to do this.

I was in that area today getting a coffee. I didn't get too close to the rally but saw the usual stupid farang that has gone local walking up the street hand in hand with their Thai girlfriend carrying a whistle and wearing a shut down Bangkok shirt.

They were getting some strange looks and even I felt I was getting some strange looks just being near the area.

People need to take a back seat and let the Thai people go through this process our own countries also went through similar processes throughout history.
