BANGKOK: -- Bangna police have apprehended a woman and three men for allegedly involving in the series of attacks in the capital on anti-government rallies including bomb attack at Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva's Sukhumvit residence last night.

Thaworn Senneam, a core leader of the protests, said the suspects who are now detained at Bangna police station were behind supplying and smuggling weapons including bombs for the purpose of creating chaos as the protesters were campaigning for shutting down Bangkok.

Abhisit and his family were not at the residence at the time of the attack which damaged roofs and walls of the house. Police reportedly identified the bomb as big firecrackers.

The attack was the latest on rally leaders including Chuan Leekpai and Jitpas Kridakorn.

Thaworn claimed that the weapons smuggled by the four suspects were also used in the shootings at Hua Chang Bridge around midnight.

The shootings injured a garbage collector of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration who was working behind Siam Discovery Shopping Complex and a woman. They were rushed to a nearby hospital.

BANGKOK: -- A ping pong bomb was thrown into the house of Democrat party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva shortly before midnight last night, causing damages to the house roof, but no injury.

Abhisit and his family members were not at home on Soi Sukhumvit 31 (Soi Sawasdee) when the explosion was heard last about 11.30 p.m.

Thonglor police arrived at the house last night said the explosion caused a

big hole on the roof tiles and shattered glass windows.

It was not known yet what kind of explosive was used in the attack, but initially they suspected it might be either a ping pong bomb or a giant letal firecracker.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) police are inspecting the explosion scene this morning looking for evidence and clue. They are also looking into video footages from surveillance cameras at the house and adjacent areas to hunt the attacker.

Well lets see now. There are varying reports on this incident ranging from "a bomb was thrown" to " a firework was set off". Irrespective as to what it actually was, and assuming that there is an element of truth in all reports then it should not be too long before the facts are made known given that as the opposition leader he was entitled to security personnel ( and I assume still entitled during this caretaker government phase) and of course addtionally his house has extensive CCTV.

Now we know that CCTV often is discovered "not to be working" during many police investigations but does anyone seriously believe that given the current political state he and his personal security advisors would not have ensured that it was working ? Not forgetting of course what were the security guards doing at the time of the incident ?

Therefore we should soon find out what caused the explosion and how it was deployed and from whom - of course unless it is just propaganda with the aim of either discrediting some other parties or attempting to "add fuel to the fire" no pun intended.

Opportunistic idiots. It's wrong and we all know it. The person(s) who tossed the device knew it was wrong and their intention was to cause fear and a disturbance. If and when they are caught, instead, of treating the public to a finger pointing exercise, send the responsible party(s) back to clean up the mess, reimburse the damages and to explain his/herself to the intended targets. Maybe if they heard from Mrs. Abhisit and the people working in the area about the pain and hurt they caused, it just might sink in to the numbskull(s) that what they did was wrong.

great security

Guard(s) may have been reduced because Abhisit is at a safe house.. They may have been inside the compound. It's a big place and a guard could have been making rounds walking the perimeter and they waited until he passed. Who knows, but in a world where nutters can get into Buckingham Palace and startle Queen Elizabeth, plant bombs on Russian and Israeli buses despite security, and plant IEDs at will in southern Thailand, sometimes a nasty person gets "lucky".

Funny how only flower pots and windows are damaged from these "bombs"

There's very little that is funny about bombs. Perhaps you'd prefer a few deaths and maimings?

Bombing a residence or anywhere else for that matter is serious regardless of the side you are on.

But this reflect the attitude of the pro Thaksin indeed. Funny his Axx!
