Which terminal is which? The uppermost pin/terminal is presumably the earth but there is nothing on the plug to indicate to which terminal the live and neutral wires be connected.

OK i think i can answer your question in side the plug you will find the live side connection will be a rather brighter screw head

but having said that if you had a plug with only two prongs you will find that either way up will still work but i dont know why

looking at your top pic i would say live to the left of the earth

are the sockets you are using actually earthed ? if new wiring its possible but if older its very likely not. many outlets are fitted with earth hole but no wire connection live/hot=black neutral = grey

Further to my first reply you could just switch off the main power supply open the socket (s) and check the wiring colour and work it out from

Live is on the Left looking into the outlet with ground at the top. At least that's how it's supposed to be, but TiT
