Farkas Gyula - family are asked to contact the police in Kamala.

PHUKET: Kamala police are appealing for information about an eldery Hungarian tourist who was found lost and disoriented in Kamala on Saturday night (January 11).

Kamala Police Volunteer Paul Edden said police were trying to find anyone who knows 73-year-old Farkas Gyula who, it is believed, may be suffering from Alzheimer’s.

Mr Edden said Mr Gyula was found in Kamala and was picked up by locals and taken to the police station. He is now staying at the Sunwing Resort in Kamala.

Mr Gyula is a Hungarian national but lives in Switzerland. He told police he was staying at the Swissotel, but the hotel had no record of him. Police have been telephoning hotels in the area, and are also trying to connect with the Hungarian Embassy in Bangkok.

“He said he came to Phuket with his wife on January 8. He’s got money, but no passport,” Mr Edden said.

“Maybe if someone knows him, they can get in touch with me. He’s very confused,” Mr Edden said.

Anyone who has information can call Mr Edden on 083 982 9105.

Ahhhhhhhh........Love him..........such a sweet face.

Hope everything goes all right for him.

Sad for the guy... but if the police know his name why not check by the hotel list. Every hotel must send the guest list every day to them..... or......

Now I think longer ... are you sure he lived in Swiss... I can remember that name about 8 years ago involved with Saab-Viggen deals in Sweden. Looked in old notes but no photos so not sure

Surely, if he came with his wife, she would have contacted the Police by now ?

I always carry the business card of the hotel where I am staying in my wallet. I do not suffer from Alzheimer’s, but you never know when you could be in a serious accident or have a heart attack or similar.

Also, handy for taxi drivers who do not speak English.
