Bangkok: More shootings at anti-government protest sites

I like the way the report said 'Trang' number plates.

It is almost like the car was deliberately taken to be abandoned as some form of 'suggestion'.

It's a pity the police got the girl, now everything will be twisted and distorted. If she is a red shirt, she will be released and that is the last anyone will hear about it. Same as all the other arrests.

This is why the army need to push out the police and do the job themselves and maybe we will get results, but more importantly, explanations.

So it had trang plates, why when something with details is there you get on the defensive ? the police dont need the army if they can control the checkpoints, then all the better, you whine when they dont do something you whine when they do....

good they have someone maybe they can get some answers.

its great they got the girl lets hope they find out a lot more, like maybe who was driving and why a southern car is up here running checkpoints with bullet holes in it.

Someone reported this lady has been caught with weapons and ammunitions before as shown in the photo with a guy in Jun 2013. But she is release from police. Wondering who exactly is she?

Interesting to see how this progresses.

Maybe she's some sort of secret agent cheesy.gif

Or maybe she had the guns for self defense, thought the police and guards on picket duty were potential highway robbers (easy mistake with some police) and panicked. If her intentions are good, and it was all a big mistake, she'll be released like the 4 thugs with guns and grenades.

Strangely enough this was reported a little differently in another media.

The police apparently found a black car with bullet holes on it's right side and near the number plate. I wonder if the Honda Civic is black with Trang plates or a car that had been shot at.

Anyway a great relief that the police are so certain that the shooters are drug dealers or car thieves and not political hoodlums trying to injure and kill their political opponents. whistling.gif

The people are tired of their city being blocked and thugs roaming the streets intimidating the people in a lawless manner. They are taken their frustration out on the southern thugs who invaded their city. Red Dawn 2014

You have thugs on the brain, In 2010 it was all northern thugs and true to the word, now you have demonstrators from everywhere, uni. ,north, center, eastern seaboard, and on the whole peaceful, but you always get an unruly %,

2010 most were unruly to say the least. again a one sided memory loss post from you.

Additionally the (wiki) definition of thug is:-

  • Thug, a common criminal, who treats others violently and roughly, often for hire
  • Thug, proper noun, a member of the former Indian cult Thuggee

If all who use that word, in the context of the activities of the protesters, have any evidence of thuggery then post it here otherwise instead tell us about the thuggery of the grenade throwing, gun firing terrorists who seem hell bent on causing the deaths of innocent people.

Yes, well, god forbid the police would arrest the protest leaders, put the protestors on the sidelines and plow the barricades instead of protecting the anarchists while they march on to shut down more government agencies.

Look up the word anarchist and see if you think it really applies to protesters whose main aim is to oust a corrupt regime that disobeys the law.

You're right in a way, it's only anarchy the protest leaders want to create in order for the fascists to replace the government and install the old feudal order. The protestors want mostly a parade plus passionate jingo slogans, to believe there's a magical fix to things in life, to maintain the underclass order, entertainment and an excuse not to work. Everyone loves a parade.

Thanks for catching the misnomer.

Senior Pol Col Chusak Techarakpong is stating so soon after the event that the assailants were involved in either drug or car smuggling rings and not there to cause trouble? Seriously? Why would they even try to break through any checkpoints when they know it's a "protest" area and security is in place?

And why only 30 Police guarding that area? If they were serious about protecting people/anyone, they could ring each protest site with a wall of Police very easily. It's a joke.

If they were serious about the law, they'd be clearing them out, not protecting them. Why should police manpower be used to 'ring the protest site with a wall of police'? What, 24 hours a day for an illegal occupation? Of course, they should be allowed to protest, but I don't see why the police should be encouraging disruption and illegal blocking of roads and intersections. Let them move to one or two sites at least, then perhaps the police can provide enough people to adequately protect them.

Drug dealer or a car thief? Maybe the SEALs really were investigating drug traffickers using the protests as cover.

Actually the overwhelming majority in 2010 were peaceful and sat at the stage. It was the people not at the stage who fought with the army - most from slums and working class areas, not those that came in from Issan and the North.

Hahaha

Last report said that the car was riddled with bullets.

I doubt very much that this is anything other than an attempt to attack the protests. The police unfortunately have a woman they arrested, and seems everyone they arrest the police instantly deny they are protest attackers. Just another cover up by the police.

I have said it once and I will say it again.

Get rid of the police, and put the army in their place and we may see some results and get some explanations.

First report says that it was a joint police/protester checkpoint. Other reports say the police came later to arrest the woman after guards detained her. All reports claim the car had bullet holes (presume the guards would've shot back at the car). I wouldn't make any assumptions just yet... the onus is on the press to follow up on these stories and tie in links to other cases, but they seldom do. It's left instead to social media users and people on forums to speculate and draw their own conclusions.

The press is so inept its likely to be as accurate in social media as it is in the press. Ie they make stuff up all the time.

It could very well be nothing to do with the protesters at all, there is plenty of illegal stuff going on in Bangers besides a mob camping out all over the place.

Last night, a car broke through a police checkpoint into the protest site. Col Chusak said the driver has earlier broken a checkpoint outside the Bumirajanagarindra Kidney Institute in Phayathai district and get through another checkpoint to the protest venue but it was intercepted by police. Two men managed to escape the scene but one woman was nabbed.

He said the group was believed to be member of drug or illegal cars smuggling rings.

Mr Thaworn said the incident has nothing to do with or not intending to harm the protesters

Now, if you are a criminal and if you have average intelligence, why on earth wouldn't you plan a route that avoids protest sites and checkpoints? Then again, ineptitude is not the sole domain of police and politicians...

It must be getting difficult for these shooters to find a target to shoot at, mtp.

Asoke blockade yesterday mid-day not one person standing in the street, not even a soi dog in front of the stage. Ironically Richie Valens singing "La Bomba" was blasting from the protestors wall of sound speakers.

Last night passing Victory Monument the sprawling stands of street vendors outnumbered the protestor pedestrians by two to one.

I live nearby Victory Monument and agree that most of the people are locals who pass through here daily. Some are annoyed with the protest and many just enjoy the additional bit of excitement with a dash of danger

It is the street fair flavor of the thing that must concern the protest organizers the most because as most of us suspect, they are really trying to instigate a catastrophe.
