Hi guys... finally got retirement pensions ! AM an American Citizen with Thai Wife Visa.. ( previously used the 400k in bank when extending) now have proof of pension ( more than 40k thb each month) Question how close to the extension renewal will the letter from embassy need to be to accompany bank statements ( verifying monthly foreign direct deposits from American Pensions)..etc...and will that letter have to be renewed annually ?

Also.. will I need to have translated verification from pension fund and Social Security and MFA stamps on the translations...?

Thanks In advance

You will get an income affidavit. The policy is that they can be as much as 6 months old but you should confirm with your local immigration office.

If the immigration office asks for back up proof it does not need to be translated. The best back proof is a Thai bank book showing transfers into the country.

Are you aware that you can have your pension payments (Social Security payments) direct deposited into a Bangkok Bank account via there New York branch).

Your bank book will have the transfers in it with a FTT (foreign telex transfer) code that means they came from abroad. No need for anything more.

When you are ready to do your income affidavit you can fill it in it online or download it on the embassy website. http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/service/notarial-services.html

Appointments are mandatory so be sure make one or you will not get through the front doors.

Embassy appointments ARE mandatory but they once kindly let me in without one when I forgot that I needed the affidavit until the last minute. They put me at the end of the line though and did the affidavits and other documents for all of the people who had appointments before mine. Not complaining though.
