The 'talking' cars that warn drivers about unseen hazards

24 January 2014 Last updated at 16:35 GMT

Many modern cars are fitted with sensors and cameras to help drivers avoid rear-end collisions, but these systems can only detect what the vehicle can physically see in its line of sight.

To solve this problem, car manufacturers are now developing vehicle to vehicle communication which allows cars to broadcast a 360 degree awareness of speed, position and direction of travel and warn drivers about unseen hazards.

May be a success in a lot of countries.

Only problem here is if you get two locals in a car rabbiting away to each other they will totally ignore another voice.

My car already as something similar. The app is called W.I.F.E.
