UK family visit visa for step-child

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm applying for family visit visa's for my wife and her daughter but I'm not sure of a few things and need some advice please.

1. Will the same ECO process both applications together and is it necessary for me to provide duplicate copy's of the supporting documents like financial evidence and our accommodation arrangements ect. in the child's application? I only have 1 set of originals I can provide.

2. How can my wife prove she's had sole responsibility of her daughter for her whole life? she has the kor por 14 document to show sole custody, is there anything else she can provide?

3. Me and my wife also have a son together, should supply his birth certificate to help prove our relationship together?

4. Should I provide all photocopies of any documents in a separate folder for each application or put it all in together?

Thanks in advance,

SY

1) Mother and child will need to make and pay for separate applications, but you can use the set of same supporting documents for both.

2) Showing sole responsibility is not required for a visit application.

3) Not really necessary; she's your wife and your marriage certificate proves the relationship. Wont hurt, though.

4) Original documents will only be returned if photo copies are also provided. I suggest two folders; one with the originals and one with the copies.

Hello,

I need a bit more advice please.

I've finished both sponsorship letters and the cover letter from my wife, and have all the supporting documents in order.

1. Do I need to write a cover letter from my wife's 7 year old daughter?

2. My wife had 1 previous passport which never got used but she lost it a few years ago, should I explain this in her cover letter?

3. My wife also lost her original birth certificate but got some paperwork from the local amphur to confirm her D.O.B, do I need to send this with the application? If so, should I explain this in her cover letter?

Thanks in advance,

SY.

1) No, write one for both.

2) & 3) Yes.

Thanks 7by7,

I've started to fill out the online form for my wife. In the travel information section they ask who she will be travelling with, she will travel with both our children but they ask if they have a visa for the UK. We are applying for her daughters visa at the same time, I'm not sure if I should put yes or no, as we don't know if her visa will be granted yet, What should I put?

I'd put neither, but that she is applying as well; or if there isn't room for that (I've not seen the latest online form) then 'No' and explain in the further comments section.
