webfact Posted January 30, 2014 Share Posted January 30, 2014 Suthep and all PDRC leaders kick off street march to oust Yingluck BANGKOK: -- Protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban and leaders of all eight protest sites of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) kicked off the 3-day mass street march this morning as the 3-day election countdown begins. The march today aimed to invite Bangkok people to come out to boycott the February 2 election.Security today was heightened to maximum as leaders of all eight protest sites jointly took part in the march today along the Sukhumvit road to Phra Khanong which could pose easy target for attack by ill-intention group of people.Security for all PDRC leaders were well planned to protect them as the Center for the Administration of Peace and Order chief Chalerm Yoobamrung vowed to make arrest all leaders, particularly Suthep, before the election date. Pressure should be put to investigate governments movement by independent commissions and this would remove most of tsksin clan from power by itself. Low numbers again and now many many more on the respect my vote marches and vigils. Silom today, just a few goons left and what is noticible about this is that the PDRC, as the vendors claim on Thai TV have marked out the street and have thugs collecting money off them. You can clearly see it here. So extortion, illegally letting out Thailand, to add to a thousand crimes. Police cheif stated on all Thai TV, that people should not think the Government is finished, and should be prepared to face the music after the elections. If they see of Suthep,,,, most of these goons are going down. Can't see history, even here, regarding Suthep as a genius in any aspect of his life. The true genius on the yellow side of the divide was Sondhi L. He took a personal grievance with thaksin and pressed all the right buttons- (accusations of republicanism, massive corruption, and ethnicity - as in People of Chinese Descent Saving Thailand.) His proposed style of government tapped into a yearning among many for the 'good old days' when good men ruled and the people were happy. Rice in the paddy, fish in the streams, etc He also appealed to xenophobia, to authoritarian instincts, to the respect that many Thais have for blind submission to hierarchy. He touched all the bases- and like him or not, he deserves credit of some kind because this is PAD writ larger than even in 2005. This might come to be a rally. Also just read news that the Courts are seriously considering of revoking the "Emergency Law", in order to protect the demonstrators. " It is important that Suthep says this and more importantly does this. If that actually happens that will be a powerful visual message. People who are amassed peacefully speak more loudly and are heard much further. Having said that, many people on the streets may not heed this, in spite of his wishes. That is the fear, and that should be the top concern. Passions are running very high at the moment - higher than at any other point in Thai political history, and the exact card the police play is still uncertain, and in fact may very well tip the balance if it is a card that is overplayed. The objectives of the PDRC, though, become enhanced through peaceful means. They have largely been true to that up to this point and that is encouraging. But splinter groups within it have not always been in step. For it to have a truly meaningful impact they need to be unified on this. Peace needs to be the tool as well as the message itself. Suthep has stated that his proposed council of good people, some drawn from various sectors of the economy, some appointed on basis of merit, could be in place for 2 years. After two years of gov't by good men, do you think they will simply retire and permit the popular will to once more threaten the status quo that they so assiduously defend? If they do not retire and return the gov't to popular will (Thida & co) how will the political system be different from the Grand Council of Rome? Must take you ages to work all this out. Why don't you make a little folder of all your proofs and accusations and take it along to the police or PTP, so they can use it against Suthep.
