sort of off topic but a farang tourist policeman tried to intervene in a scam at mikes today. he was forced to retreat into a shop in modern supermarket

Anyone got any further details of this?

Would be really interesting to know more of how he came about to be there, and who forced him retreat and why?

Thais are undeterred to not break the law and cause crime. It's a struggle to get most to wear a motorbike helmet. I think Thailand needs capital punishment. Nothing else seems to work.

It already has capital punishment, it just has not been used recently. And even when is was used it did not deter crime, despite the prospect of facing a machine gun wielding executioner

they were scamming an indian family, the jet ski did capsize but surely they are designed for that, the scammers wanted 30000b. so a spectator called a tourist police he knew and he happened to be over at mikes so he came over. He suggested the family come up on the footpath and tell him their side of the story and the lady that runs it started cursing and shouting and physically pushing him away. when he resisted she screamed louder and about a dozen of the boys surrounded him and he ran across the street and hid in a shop. I think he was rather shocked and surprised by it all.

Unreal. The Indian family must have been shocked at that, thinking there is no way out of it (which lets face it, there isn't).

I'm a bit surprised that he didn't know of the extortion racket in operation on the beach. I guess he does now though. I wonder what repercussions would occur if the thugs actually attacked him.

Probably nothing, as it seems as if his superiors "maybe" in on the action any way.
