February 1, 201412 yr Hey Guys, Im living and working in Bangkok and I love the city so far. But what I miss is some sort of recreation / relax place to calm down from work and traffic. My apartment is great but because its right beside Sukhumvit Rd its not really quite here. What I miss is a quite relaxation / recreation place. Maybe a swimming pool, sauna, quite and peacefull garden or anything where its quite and it feels like you are far away from the busy city. Does anybody have a good tip on where to spend once in a while your afternoon to relax and calm down? Cheers Chris
February 1, 201412 yr Lumpini park and Benjasiri Park are both good. They both can get a bit crowded but still good. Lumpini has a nice big lake and trees to almost block out the noise. Benjasiri is smaller but has a pool (need health certificate). Both have various sports activities. There is also Benjakiti (not sure correct name) along Ratchada going south from Asoke. Out further along Bang Na there are some golf courses and artifical lakes.
February 1, 201412 yr Try Sri Nakhon Khuen Khan Park.. It is on the other side of the river , but assign a whole day to go there and to explore. Google for best directions how to get there. It is a part of Bangkok that is unbelievable, one of my favourite places in Bangkok. .

You can hire a bike and ride the route below, I did, it was great. As mentioned Lupini and Benjasiri parks as well. http://www.everytrail.com/guide/a-tour-of-bangkoks-prapradaeng-by-bicycle
February 2, 201412 yr Gotta agree about Lumpini, an oasis of calm surrounded by a tumult of activity. Make friends with the lizards, get involved in the bread wars for feeding the fish, dodge the cruisng, watch the quiet contemplation of chess and gentle Tai Chi, biking and walking. From the angst of everyday life, the place is just a sanctuary of solitude amongst a thriving crowd.
