BANGKOK: -- Two Ayutthaya factory workers were arrested in Khon Kaen's Nam Pong district along with 100,000 yaba pills worth Bt30 million in street value, police announced yesterday.

Sathaporn Yolai, 19, and Wanchai Upasri, 21, reportedly told police after their Sunday night arrest on the Mitraparp Highway that they were hired by another man for Bt300,000 to deliver the drugs to a customer in Bangkok, said Pol Lt-Colonel Padol Chandon of the Highway 2 police station.

After a tip-off, police set up a checkpoint and were alerted that a Toyota sedan suspiciously stopped at a nearby gas station, so police pretended to end the checkpoint only to resume it later to target this car. Sathaporn and Wanchai were on board, along with the drug, police say.

If the perps are Thai it is referred to as "factory workers." If they are Cambodians or Burmese or Laos, it is headlined "foreign" workers.

Remember big drug gangs, can afford to loose 10%!

dumb smucks were set up from the begining. 300,000 to deliver 1,000,0000. to bad no actual police work goes into getting the people responsible for setting up the deal. then again, mr. x probably has a golden police star on the front of his mercedes.

Poor dumbies. The big shots carry on their operations, the cops get commended for the big bust, and these two get life (death? At what amount/weight of drugs does that become a possible penalty here?).

Sounds like a diversion. The Mexican cartel uses these ploys too. Send a little free publicity for the authorities, while the mother load is being smuggled thru.

19 and 21 years old.

What a waste of their young lives.

It's amazing what greed will do.

Time for the Ultimate Fine again, sooner or later you would think they would learn.

Lasy I checked neither Cambodia, Burma or Laos were in Thailand so "foreign worker" would infact be the correct label.

what point were you trying to make ?

Lose..

How much does a pill of yaba cost? If there were 100,000 pills and the cops say it was worth 30 million baht then each pill would cost 300 baht. How does the average Thai afford that kind of dope given the mandated wage for a days labor is only 300 baht. I wonder if this is like the DEA estimates for drug seizures in the US where they calculate a gram of cocaine costs $150. Perhaps years ago it did but from what I read in the press now the prices have fallen significantly.

Because that would be accurate.

somebody did not get his cut or too little & went to rat out the others?
