February 13, 201412 yr Does anyone know the latest rules as regards a medical certificate for a retirement visa please? I though that I read somewhere that it was no longer required. Now i have just been told that I need one but only the Government hospital in Nathon can issue one! Thanks Gator
February 13, 201412 yr The national rule is ABSOLUTELY no medical form needed for retirement extensions in Thailand. They are needed for O-A visas from home countries. So who "told" you the medical form was needed in your locality? From a bar stool or from the local immigration office? If the local immigration office, then you DO need it. Some provincial offices don't follow the national rules on a number of things. Cheers. Edited February 13, 201412 yr by Jingthing
February 13, 201412 yr Are you looking for extension of stay at Samui Immigrations? Medical certificate has never been a requirement for extension of stay. Only time you have to present a medical certificate is if you apply for an one year multiple entry non O-A visa at the embassy of your home-country.
February 13, 201412 yr Who told you you needed one. Since they mentioned a particular hospital it might be a mix up of with getting a work permit. Unless Samui immigration has created their own rules according to clause 2.22 of police order 777/2551 a medical certificate is not required.

My monthly super payment is OK as is my cash in the bank What is the cost for Immigration to change me from non O multi to Retirement' Sorry cannot find the answer. You don't do a change you just apply for an extension of stay based upon retirement during the last 30 days of any of your 90 day entries you get from your visa. As said cost is 1900 baht. Then if you want to leave the country you will need a re-entry permit that costs 1000 baht for a single or 3800 baht for a multiple.
February 13, 201412 yr Samui Immigrations also wants 5.000 baht for an 1.900 baht extension. I've not run into that one....... yet....
February 13, 201412 yr Samui Immigrations also wants 5.000 baht for an 1.900 baht extension. In that case, I would have also demanded a multiple re-entry permit from them free of charge!

February 13, 201412 yr Samui Immigrations also wants 5.000 baht for an 1.900 baht extension. alt=bah.gif width=19 height=19> I have difficulty in believing this. There is absolutely no way in which I would pay such an outrageous "fee" without receiving a detailed receipt. (Yes I speak and read Thai) . If such corruption actually exists it must and should be exposed and bought down . Chat on a forum is just that !

February 14, 201412 yr Oh yes I hear say hear say someone paid $10,000. so PoorSucker got of cheap charlie. I always just put the correct fee in an envelope marked "FEE 1.900 baht"

I know at least 3 people who have been asked and payed said 5k. Service charge i guess. For my first extension several years ago, based on marriage, I was offered a "special express service" for extra payment (I think about 7k). This was guaranteed 3 day turn around instead of 30 days. The reasoning was they will drive it personally to HQ and hand walk through the system. The head honcho was changed and the new guy stopped all this and cleaned the place up, replacing all the original officers overtime.
February 14, 201412 yr "Does anyone know the latest rules as regards a medical certificate for a retirement visa please?" From this original Question, that only concerns people of age of 50 (same day is enough when you apply) or more there`s lot of answers that are not related. You need the coin to show on your account (800k baht) and 12 months validity on your passport. No need to show medical info...
