Is it Possible to work 18 hours a week on the Ed Visa.

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I've been told it is not possible to work on the Ed visa in Thailand yet some other people have said there is a new rule being brought in that allows people on the Ed visa to work for 18 hours a week as long as they are not handling cash, can anybody tell me which is true please...

work = workpermit

no wp = jail

There is no such rule allowing you to work on an ED visa. Only a work permit allows you to work.

Tell that to the African guys who hang out on Sukhumvit late at night. Many of them are on ED visas and they're certainly working and handling cash (and goods).

Okay I don't mean to sidetrack the thread but seems it has already been answered so... does an EDU visa give me the right to open a bank account?

Yes ----a bank account can be opened with a tourist visa.

You may have to try a number of Banks/Branches before one is found willing to open an account.
