I mind the pat down, I mind the radiation and what is in my computer is none of their business. Nothing but modern day gestapo and Kabuki theater of fear, intimidation and subservience. Amerika is a nation of sheeple run for and by the plutocrats. I don't go back. It isn't the country I thought I grew up in and that country would never allow what is happening today.

You live in Thailand?

Can you opt out of a roadblock?

Nope, but this is Thailand not Amerika. I opted to live here knowing full well I would not have the inherent rights I have or rather used to have in America. I was born and raised in the former United States of America now known as the Corporate Police State of Amerika.

Yes, America is fiction, but many of us tried hard to make it a reality.

After 6 months away,

the people I am encountering so far, in LA, SF and now Wi, are fine people,

friendly, warm, happy, and I am happy to be here interacting with them so far.

This has been a great way to return

I would rather have inspections targeting drug runners and pedophiles than a country like Thailand that lets all of those <deleted> in without question.

not defending any sub group,

but, that makes thailand more free, not less free,

pedophiles seem to be everywhere, and may go back to ancient days, drug runners, well,

thats another story as innocents are often used and caught,

drugs are supply demand oriented,

no demand, no need for a salesman, or distributor,

they are just meeting the needs of a market,

doesnt make them pedophiles

The words "I didn't mind the pat down" bring fury to my mind.

There are a lot of things in life I can say "I don't mind ______", and while it may not affect me, it has a huge impact on those who do in fact mind. What if, as an exaggerated example, a significant portion of people "didn't mind" thorough undergarment inspections.

People need to keep their "I don't mind_____" philosophies to themselves, as it directly impacts the constitutional rights of others.

Seems more the issue, that the US Gov is just trying to justify it's implementation of control, to bypass all rights & conduct what in the past would've been seen as illegal searches. How do you profile someone in a crowd of thousands at a glimpse. Pedophiles look like everyone else, this is more about US gov playing the PC game, using a Media "card", an excuse which cannot be attacked, to effectively violate one's rights (no one will defend pedophiles over Rights in the face of the Media). Anyone who lived through the Bush rule & through the 1st Obama reign, could see the slow & steady outing of the US's Constitutional Rights. Getting closer to Orwell's, 1984.

But all in all, the why I choose to live in Thailand.

Thailand has roadblocks all over the country as they seek, drug runners and human traffickers,

It is the same as a secindary screening at US Customs which will take seconds if you co operate and smile?

Never nor anyone I've known came across a checkpoint other than one looking for "under the influence" drivers, drugs or bribes in anywhere throughout Thailand. Each country to its own.

There will never be any justification for releasing all your rights & liberties, thus bowing down to being a slave of society or a better word, an Englishman.

The secondary in the US (of which only exist at a very few major cities) isn't the issue, but that it's the primary stance in all violation of any Americans rights. Never seen anything even close to similar with Thai customs or most every other country (exceptions of my experience are of the same type of countries wanting to use fear as control - England & France). Currently with LAX, a middle eastern, Hispanic or black with foreign passports can walk thru customs with a nuke openly tied to their backs & just breeze thru. But if a white male American walks by even if with baby Jesus in tow, he will be stopped, searched, his luggage searched....and detained so as long as to justify the legal gov bullying & budget at the same time.

Another thing with US Customs...well, only certain with LAX. If you at any point object or make a smart remark or complain, you will definitely be detained - it's just a badge but to them, it's their closest point to being a God.

What the...why can't I quote anyone other than myself. Ever since the last IOS update, every time I quote someone else of which I've participated, it shows up as if I'm talking to myself!! What's the point if you can't engage in conversation. Will subtract another Star.

Long time ago.

Going just that one time through LAX coming from JKT. Stopped for bag check. Only had small carry-on.

Couple questions and check of my multi-stamped passport.

Female officer then hit a switch and a red light came on over our heads.

Supervisor came over. Inquired why I was going so often to Thailand.

Told him "Because I like Thailand".

He didn't inquire about my Indonesian visas. Just suspicious about the multiple LOS stamps.

But they then let me go without further ado.

I remember that red light "we have a situation here" just for little me. Funny in a way. LOL

I truly believe it is the attitude of the traveler that makes all the difference.

anytime I am stopped, I have no trouble, because I am friendly and co operative,

they tend to meet too many wise guys, and for what they are being paid, they just want to do their job and go home, and not be hassled by someone presumably in a better financial position than they, who is freely traveling the world, then they have to work in one room all day, with no windows

I dont get hassled, because, they see me as non threatening and willing to be past them quickly

Exactly. They've got certain profiles to look for -- and for many Immigration officers, experience has validated these profiles. It's become obvious that many of the posters here -- those who've experienced problems -- fit one or more of these profiles.

If you at any point object or make a smart remark or complain, you will definitely be detained

Gosh, I sure hope so.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

It is not the USA, it is the Corporate Police State of Amerika and people that accept the loss of our inherent rights are part of the problem. While one may be ground up by the system, and I know, I was one, I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees. If you think the justice system is 'just' you have never been involved with it. If you think the detention and confiscation of telephones, laptops, private work and conversation of people that tell the truth and speak out against the abuses of the government (i.e. reporters) is ok you are the problem. Those that say if you don't do anything wrong you have nothing to fear are fools, who determines whether or not you have done anything wrong, not you that's for sure. Don't try to compare Thailand to Amerika, apples to oranges and I knew when I came here I knew I would not have the same rights as I am supposed/used to have in Amerika. Yes, the government/airport gestapo may have the power, they do not have the right. Too many sheeple in Amerika.

Luckily for you (if you happen to be an American), the forefathers gave the freedom of speech to all members of society. Your right to be an ignoramus, who does not understand or care about your own rights, or those of others, is therefore protected. Ironically, I am happy to hear people like you speak, however ill-informed, as it reminds me of the freedoms afforded to us all. We are steadily losing them however, since 9/11, do in large part to people of your ilk.

Then you are part of the problem. Ah you are white, Anglo-Saxon, male and perhaps rich? You agree with all the illegal wars and extra-judicial killings? You agree with the co-ordinated government gestapo destruction of Occupy? You agree the Koch (John Birch Society) brothers and their ilk should take over the US? You agree the plutocrats should run the country (they already do)? You agree with the teabaggers and right wing 'christian' taliban? You think all the spying on innocent people is A-OK, legal and keeping you safe from the big bad terrorists? You welcome your friendly drone coming soon to your neighborhood? You can duck your head, shuffle your feet and mutter yes sir and no sir? Those people still have some degree of freedom, or at least think they do. It matters not what you think you saw and experienced, what matters is what the rest of the people experience. What matters is the government has no right to do what it has and is doing and that certainly includes the airport gestapo. Some people just can't seem to understand "inherent rights". Wake up and smell the crap.

Jeez, try reading the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Try protesting the illegal government actions and the rip off of the middle class by the banksters and Wall Street criminals. You'll learn and damn quick. Open your eyes.

Given but must include those Wall Street criminals are also the main supporters of the US Government. That Wall Street issue awhile back was more of a smoke screen or distraction from Obama's appointed Attorney General who was being scrutinized for indirectly selling arms to the Mexican cartel. Also during such protests, the city officials (by way of the Federal Gov) were prohibited from stepping in (threat of losing their jobs). Regardless, what an embarrassing era in American history show how stupid the younger gen of Americans are. How bad schools in America have become.
