External Roller Blind or Screen Maker or good sources

Featured Replies

Hi

All over Thailand I see good external cheap, rattan and roller bamboo blinds or screens

I'll try and post pictures of the type of thing I'm looking for.

In Uk these are often internal made of very flimsy light almost straw thin stuff.

However I'm looking for windproof external so maybe half inch bamboo pole and thicker pieces than used internally as they'll shelter an upper deck terrac from sun, neighbours, breeze etc

My object is to buy

1 Strong and durable

2 As will not often raise they will be for shade fixings no too important ,If anyone knows of good source of the metal bits with a pastic non rust wheel but can probably bring back from UK /Oz trip or find on Alibaba but these are not essential, can just hang from a pole and be folded in one crease for cleaning.

3 Most will be 2.74m long with 2m drop to g0 round my terrace bout 8feet by 6 foot six in Imperial

4 I know I can saw or cut but as I hope to cover 4 sides of 11m each with around 12 sections ,need gaps for doors, be great to find a maker.I see lots of basket and fishtrap makers but not screens

5 Quality durability more concern than price,I'd like something that'll last 20 years then they can roll me up in'em for my final visa run!

6 I'm in N C Rai so M Sai/Takilek poss but have looked and asked, C Rai ,Phayo even Phrae where I know there are many Furniture villages.

7 I will consider a jaunt to C mai in Pick Up truck if I can find either a good shop my Lanna wife can haggle but I'd sooner go to the maker as they can be made to measure all same colour and varnished.

Any help appreciated.

Go BKK occasionaly by plane and could pay to have sent but I'm sure the matrials are grown here and some village somewhere is making,Will consider a rd trip to via Pilok K kaen Mikdahan whhen I visit laos in Autumn so again these areas if you have any ideas I've never been to Isaan. Also maybe Hang Dong or Bosang craft places C mai?

Not sure if pix will copy but the very first result in this google linky is perfect
