Can a Visa on arrival be changed in thailand?

I'm US citizen at present living in Philippines I'm retired and over 50 My pension is over 65,000 baht a month. My question is this if I come to Thailand from Philippines on Visa on arrival can I apply for retirement visa there Or do I need to return to states and apply from there?

Just to clarify, in case he is unaware ...

The "proof" of monthly income required is a affidavit stating the amount you receive in $ that you fill in and that is then notarized by the US Embassy. If you enter using the 30 day visa exempt entry, you'll need to prove the amount twice, once for the conversion at Immigrations to a non-o entry and again at Immigrations when you apply for the extension of stay based on retirement (it's not a visa). The US Embassy will charge you $50 for EACH affidavit that they notarize. As Ubonjoe says, probably better to arrive with a non-o, which will reduce the hassle and dollar expense.

Immigrations normally accepts the affidavit alone, but an officer could ask for something additional to back up the amount you claim, so it's a good idea to have your documentation ready. Usually depends on which Immigrations office you use.

The 400k number you posted is for an extension of stay based upon marriage to a Thai.

Using the companies you mentioned is risky and is considered illegal if the money is not yours.

But the company is sound, highly recommended & proven. However I would use the monthly deposit method as I already met the requirements & have had a good standing with the Thai bank.
