Is this the idiot doctor who said Yingluck should get vaginal surgery and a host of other shameful suggestions ?

You tell us. Did he say that? Post a link or a quote...

A university professor recommended sending a large group of men to “sexually snare” her. A decorated doctor offered to give her vaginal repair surgery and to change her sanitary pads, andsaid she could become a nude model because she hasn’t yet reached menopause.

http://blogs.reuters.com/the-human-impact/tag/yingluck-shinawatra/

Not sure if it was this doctor or not. Name was not published... if not, i'd like to know why they are protesting... conveniently omitted by the bias thai press.

[GYw9Qr2.jpg

The Thai doctor offering his views on Yingluck was Assistant Professor Dr. Prasert Visananukorn from the Prince of Songkla University in Thailand's Southern province of Hat Yai.

In the Youtube clip posted previously in this thread, taken during a PDRC rally on 13/01/14 of this year, he stated that he wanted to call Yingluck's attention to four points:

1. If Yingluck were to resign as a prime minister, the Thai people should mint and give her a special medal with a naked image of her on it.

2. If Yingluck were to get pregnant, he would send an ox cart to pick her up in Bangkok and take her to Hat Yai to give birth. He would give her vagina a little nip and tuck which her next husband would appreciate.

3. It's not too late for Yingluck to resign as prime minister as she's still young enough to be a glamour model because she hasn't reached the menopause yet.

4. If in the end it turns out nobody actually wants her, he's happy to be her servant: buying and changing her sanitary napkins for her.

As can be imagined, there was quite an outcry from some quarters of Thai society to the misogynistic nature of what he said, saying he brought the medical profession into disrepute and action should be taken against him.

The Medical establishment hates Thaksin.

So when one of them unloads on the PTP or Red Shirts as reported here, consider the source.

Why this hatefullness?

Mostly because of the 30-baht hospital program Thaksin introduced.

It deprived the Medical Establishment of a 'golden goose"....Controlling access to hospital services was hugely profitable for them.

However, the anti-UDD/RS media conveniently fails to mention this little factoid. Same as when Medical Establishment elements participate with the coup-mongers, it is reported as if independent and unbiased entities are exhibiting self-righteous indignation.

You are pathetic. Google the Rural Doctors Society of Thailand and bring yourself up to speed on a subject you clearly know nothing about. In particular, read about their warnings about how it would be better for ALL of the poor if the existing health services were expanded sensibly, how the 30 baht scheme would drain the national health service of funds (see how health authorities are now scrambling to screw money out of the social security scheme?), how such a rashly conceived scheme didn't take into account the limited resources of rural medical facilities, how they pleaded for more health education to avoid being overrun by people with head colds, how - and this is very important - the role of a doctor has been diminished by this scheme so much that unis can no longer fill their student places (first time ever). And let's not forget the other fiasco of trying to screw rural doctors out of their hardship posting allowances. Yeah, Thaksin has done a lot for medicine in this country.

What you conveniently forget to mention is that Abhisit , in a final desperate attempt to win an election, adopted a FREE system ( and had to drop it when the boffins told him the country would go broke).

Maybe he forgot to mention it because it is a complete fabrication? Abhisit removed the 30 Baht payment from the health scheme making it completely free, it was PTP that reinstalled the payments when they took power.

No details, he filed no charges or complaints?

Just BS. Let me guess, he goes to the anti democratic rallies himself every day.

You really have a lot of angst and anger in you.

His appeal is nothing but rational and yet you are able to conclude it as BS.

I really feel sorry for you because you'll never be happy.

Thailand is not and will never be a socialist/communist nation

He makes his allegations on Facebook, not down at the local police station? Does he think that the alleged "thuggish gang" will read his comments on facebook and mend their ways or could it be that he wishes to appeal to a larger audience?

Mmm, let me think about that.

Heck if the Caretaker PM can run the country from Facebook, why can't he post allegations on Facebook?

What a childish pi$$ing contest some posters delight in . No matter what the topic, no matter how important it might be to the lives of ordinary Thai people, a handful of people here cannot resist the urge to hurl abusive puerile comments to try to score points over anonymous posters whom they do not know.

AND you have the nerve to criticise and abuse Thai people too. Try hard to remember that most of you are ineffectual falang....someprobably not even in Thailand. If you are so concerned about the country, get off your keyboards, go out and do something positive for the Thais.....unless, of course, they are red/yellow / or in ANY way different from you.

I've endured many sick threads in TV, but some have dragged thhis one to an all-time low.

Doctors are always there trying to heal everyone, whether red or not. But these reds cannot help themselves. They always have to intimidate someone. Do we all remember when they stormed the hospital at 2010? What kind of animals go after people who are actually trying to help others? The attacking of medical professionals is the lowest of lower.

To a great extent these reds are hired thugs who hang around Bangkok. They are not from Isaan. They are a local group of mafia, or hooligans as Prayuth likes to call them. Prayuth knows who they are and Adul knows who they are, but Adul has been somewhat handcuffed by those in government who, in my opinion, would like to see the protestors dealt with violently. This is why, until Prayuth got involved, we saw two quick arrest warrants go out for the alleged grenade tosser (Krisda), and the alleged assassin of Suthin in Bangna.

The red shirts are outside of Bangkok, being fired up by Thida who appears to be losing all control. There are others picking up control (Jaturporn) who, in my opinion, would like to drive an angry, gun wielding mob at Bangkok. If they win, he is a hero to the Man. If they lose, jaturpon et. al. are still winners because the upcountry locals become martyrs.

Then they should hate the Demas even more as one of the few things they managed to get through, amidst the rioting, in their short tenure was to introduce a free medical - not even 30 baht - of course PTP dismantled it upon reaching office. The 30 baht wasn't as much a golden egg killer as a hospital killer - especially inn those poor areas Thaksin supposedly supported, simply because it was not funded properly. Hospitals in wealthy areas could get by on their private services, but in the stick there are few pickings in that regard - it caused the closure of many rural clinics and hospitals. It is not a thing to be lauded; good policy, poorly executed - and just why did the PTP drop the Dems free healthcare for the poor? Could be because with no money running into the system, only out, there is little opportunity to fill pockets???

You must have gone to the same classes as Yingluck in Thai geography!!!

I doubt he trusts the police. Putting it on Facebook, given his position, will be akin to calling a press conference, without the risk of being misquoted - it will hit the media - therefore, a public declaration "Leave the hospital and its workers alone to get on with their job of saving lives on both, and no, sides." Makes a bigger impact than telling it to an ineffective and biased police force - what chances they would have done squat other than have a good giggle after he left.

Most people that work in hospitals have better things to do than file complaints. We generally our more concerned with our patients well being. Irrespective of race, gender or political persuasion. Only disgusting idiots or the Khmer Rouge threaten, intimidate and harass hospitals and hospital staff.

"Only disgusting idiots or the Khmer Rouge threaten, intimidate and harass hospitals and hospital staff."

Quite right! Because Suthep's Army murdering nurses and medics in 2010 was alright because it was only in a Temple!

Get your facts straight, Suthep doesn't have an army.

What happened in 2010 was not acceptable either, but do t let that get in the way of your rouge bile.

No, those who indiscriminately attack the public and murder innocent children are THE lowest.

Southern province of Hat Yai?

Sent from my Nexus 4 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Hat Yai is in the Southern province of Songkla, although for the purposes of the post, it doesn't really matter what province it is, since the quoted posts were about the misogynistic doctor's speech at the rally. That you chose to make a point on geography rather than address the inappropriate comments of the doctor indicates you likely hold similar views on women.

He obviously restrained from making official complaint or charges in order to try and stay a-political in his role as head of the hospital. Using the fact that he did not take legal action against thuggish Red mob causing him, his staff and his hospital problems, as a way for stating he must be "Yellow" is about as illogical as it can be.

Not quite. This doctor is actively involved in the anti-government protests. Google "doctor demonstrator" and the name of that other paper and you can watch an interview with him at a protest in which he echoes Suthip's demands for the resignation of the government etc....

And add that he has every right to protest and to speak about what he sees as wrong and he believes should be done.

Very straight forward - he has every right to freedom of speech, and freedom to protest. .

My post was in response to someone claiming that the doctor is trying to 'stay a-political'. That's clearly not the case...

Now to your post. Yes, he has every right to protest. However, the point is that his active involvement in the protests makes his claims about the hospital being harassed by 'redshirt thugs' more than a little dubious... he cannot be taken as an objective source on what's going on and it is quite possible that his statements are politically motivated. So, while your point may have been straightforward, it wasn't completely relevant...
