Ok synthetic is that little bit better isn't it :)

I finally went 100% synthetic & well it is that tiny bit better isn't it?

Nothing dramatic but it does make an already good transmission just that bit better.

Reduces gear changes to just a clean snick into each gear very nice ;)

I opted for Motul H-Tech 100 4T

The 300v sounds great but that dang oil costs more than my bike lol

I noticed it for smoothness of engine and gear changes as well. I also found slightly better fuel economy - but for the miles I do on my bikes that is not as significant as the general, slicker feel of the bike. For me, the difference works out about 1000-2000 baht a year per bike which is next to nothing.

Yeah it is subtle but definite

My gear box was already good but this reduced the gear change to something

that bit better.

Also yes price is fine & not much for this Motul H-tech 100 @ 380 baht a liter also my bike runs less than 3

liter with filter change. I couldn't justify the 1100 baht a liter for the 300v in my case.

I just did a oil change yesterday and just cant seem to deal with 1200 baht/$37 for 3l of oil. I went with mobil 4T semi-synthetic @ 366 baht/$11.50. Maybe i still have my mind in the us with rotella synthetic at $20 a gallon.

Anyway motul would be my number one choice if i could afford it and it wasnt french..

That is close to what I paid which was 380 a liter

It was Motul but not their 300v

But Motul H-tech 100 4T is a 100% synthetic too

You know on that 11-1200 baht a liter stuff I would spring for it

if someone would quantify it with more facts.

If someone said it was good for 2hp etc. I would probably think ok

I have also heard good things about Putoline

But anyway I had always run reg good grade non synthetic & it was fine +

wanted the engine good & broken in before going synthetic to try

After my ride today I can say it is that little but better shifting wise.

Anything else like not breaking down as fast etc will be a bonus I guess.

full synthetic oil definitely makes the bike smoother. you feel it.

i can even claim better acceleration!

plus it last longer than semi synthetic.

still first 6000 km, semi synthetic is better for break in.

it like the first 1000 km after oil change, bike runs its best and smoothest.

castrol power 1 racing full synthetic is cheaper at 310 thb per liter and it is as good if not better than motul h tech and 10 40 is better for hot thailand.

Yes that is basically what I did ran regular & semi for the first 7500km

went with Motul as that is what many shops have/sell here including the Kawa dealer

You know about the Hot Thailand thing.....I have seen others mention that

But I cannot say I fully understand the thinking.

I mean yes it is hot here but is it ever hotter than normal engine operating temps?

there are differences mania.

from starting your bike in a cold morning to running it afternoon under super tropical hot. about viscosity.

sure if temp is lower, it cools your engine more.

check the chart below. clearly 10W40 is safer for thailand. 10W30 is OK for up north which is cooler.

Thanks LL

Yes I always ran 10/40w as it is recommended in manual

I was curious as I saw some folks mention 15/50w due to heat &

wondered the benefit

Maybe stop & go a lot in traffic or racing? Not sure

I bought it at the Kawasaki Dealer here in CM

But see it at many shops for the same price 380 baht each

PS: here is Motul Thailands suggested retail list from 2011

So looks like price has been stable for awhile

Also I won a tube of Motul E8 scratch remover...incredible stuff

They seem to make good products

Never saw it in Pattaya for that price, but if that is an official Kawa dealer you're talking about, than there is a chance that Kawa Pattaya has it at the same price. Will have a look.

I now have Motul in my bike that costed about that price, but it's semi.

Maybe 50 if the engine is getting a bit tired or is air cooled . If the bike is water cooled it doesn't really matter what the outside temperature is.

The low W number is for Winter so in Thailand is pretty much irrelevant, even in the north.

I have been using synthetic since i think my 3km service or even earlier. I use imported japanese honda synthetic oil. At bigwing its 650 a litre. Bike running a bit smoother.

Sent from my HTC One using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
