A couple years back, you made the Non-B first. Then worked on getting the license.

I stopped teaching for awhile, but heard that you need the license first from BKK.

What is the situation now for native speakers if going to Savvanakhet? Are they requiring the license from BKK to get the Non-B?

Also, what other documents are currently required to get the Non-O?

Vientiane do not not require a teaching certificate. Savannakhet should be the same.

You could get the non-B visa itself, but you will not get a work permit and subsequently an extension till you have a waiver of the teaching license.

If you will get the waiver depends on certain factors:

- how many did you get already and are you trying to qualify for the real teaching license.

- do you have a degree, without a university degree no waiver is issued.

If you need the waiver depends on the kind of school.

You'll be given 90 days in Sawannakhet and then you'll have to apply for a provisional/ waiver at TCT. It takes only two weeks to get your waiver now, not like back in the old days.

As already mentioned a BA in any field is nowadays mandatory. No BA, no waiver. You can check your status on TCT's website.

So, you're actually applying for a one year Non-B, but you'll have to see the local Immigration to get an extension based on employment after ninety days.

You'll have to have your work permit, before you can apply for the extension at your local Immigration

Then you'll have to have the waiver letter.The labor department in most provinces also wants to see a medical with a syphilis test.

Would be great if somebody would post anything about a recent Non-O procedure in Sawannakhet. It still worked in January, without showing financial proof. No idea if the laws had been changed since then. .

Documents needed:

Contract, preferable in Thai.

Letter of employment.

Letter from educational area XYZ.

Better to have a copy of director's I.D.

Your teaching timetable.

Two passport photos for the APPLICATION.

Copies of your degree, transcripts, etc...

A fee of 1,900 baht.

Is it at all possible to convert a 30 day entry into a non-b in BKK? I've been dating a Filipino girl for several months who says she did it at BKK. Perhaps she's confused, but she seemed very sure of it. She never did any sort of Non-B outside Thai. Converted her tourist visa to Non-B in BKK. Is that possible?

Yes, it is possible. But you would need the papers to qualify for a 1 year extension right away (see post 4, incuding a waiver of the teaching license). You would also need at least 15 days left on your permission to stay.

In most cases it is easier to just go abroad. For a teacher it is easier than for most other jobs, but you will need to have enough time left to apply.
