STR-led protesters rally at Pheu Thai headquarters

Featured Replies

Messing around with the party logo. Gonna have a lot of hurt feelings there.

Wanna bet a STR leader's house gets attacked tomorrow? Only question is it a gun attack, a grenade or both?

If whistling at a mall merits both a pipe bomb and a barrage of automatic weapon fire, then besmirching a prized logo with a banner surely calls for even stronger retribution.

.

As I recall, a person who messed with the police logo got shot dead. But the PTP is a political organization loved by the people. I'm sure they wouldn't do something like that. rolleyes.gif

You memory doesn't really help you. The person you are talking about was a gangster in Kanchanaburi and wasn't related to the protests in front of Police HQ.

Just looks like people passing by with a few STD's holding flags. Quite sad really.

Why would it be sad? Do you remember all the protesters in Siam, Si Lom, Victory Monument, Democracy Monument and even the farmers ... All those whistle blowers and tractors are still against the current government. It's called the "tip of the iceberg."

More like the Titanic

One suspects the collective IQs of these thugs would not reach the daily BKK air temperature.

At least they didn't throw grenades like the thugs at the NACC office. And the sign should have read as well " PT - stop stealing the people of Thailand's money "

The secession movement has really thrown the UDD and Pheu Thai together in a way that doubtless surprises them. The secession movement was extremely brash and in great evidence last week. But since, charges have been laid, and red shirt leaders are suddenly saying they were just kidding, and the Yingluck administration has been thrown into a defensive posture. The red shirt rally that was attended by two cabinet ministers and - unfortunately for the Yingluck administration - also recorded - has proved to be a constant embarrassment to them. It doesn't just interfere with their narrative. It destroys it.

The problem with this, is that it only takes a few hardliners to commandeer the entire discussion.

Initially everyone was talking about having elected governors and small stuff like that, and now it has jumped 100 miles ahead to secession. How many people even understand the consequences of saying this is unknown, but it is probably very small. Thing is, no one in Thailand is even allowed to have a reasoned chat about this, so the nut jobs are able to control the entire discourse and it might appear that there are 100,s of thousands who support it. If everyone would sit down and talk and engage in discussion instead of throwing a hissy fit and accusations of sedition at each other, they might find it is one man and his dog with a Mao cap sitting in a hut, who is putting up these banners.

By not having a debate about this, it allows the people with the extreme views to control the discourse. This of course, is the power of democracy, which is probably lost on just about everyone in Thai politics. Many a hardliners rhetoric has been softened by reasoned discussion of facts.
