PHNOM PENH, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's trade volume with its ASEAN member states hit 4.16 billion U.S. dollars in 2013, up 12 percent from 3.71 billion U.S. in 2012, said the report of the Commerce Ministry on Wednesday.

The country exported products in equivalent to 482 million U.S. dollars to ASEAN last year, up 51 percent year-on-year as it imported goods in a total amount of 3.68 billion U.S. dollars from ASEAN last year, up 8 percent year-on-year, the report said.

Ken Rotha, spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, attributed the remarkable growth to good relations and cooperation between Cambodia and its ASEAN member states. "We believe that the growth will continue, especially when the ASEAN Economic Community becomes a reality in 2015,"he said.

Cambodia's major trading partners in ASEAN include Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore.

The country exports garment products and agricultural items to those ASEAN countries and imports petroleum, construction materials, automobiles and motorcycles, food products, consuming items, pharmaceutical products and cosmetics from those countries.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
